Broadband Enhanced Services Enrich Communication

- 4.2 billion people use 2G today vs. about 500 million on 3G/mobile broadband services.

- By 2020 Ericsson expects the total number of connections to reach 50 billion connected devices.

- Ericsson continues cooperation with leading universities and holds a session for Engineering Students in NDU.

In the next five years, it is expected for mobile Broadband services to grow to a point mobile internet will reach same levels as mobile phone services used around the world. Ericsson, being a major contributor to the telecom industry evolution, leads this technology shift by providing the proficiency and the know-how required to take the next step. Realizing the promising potentials the Middle East region presents, Ericsson is committed to offer its enhanced services including but not limited to Mobile Broadband, IPTV, video-on-demand, targeted advertising and others.

Ericsson, the leading technology company, has dedicated lots of its efforts not only to provide operators with necessary solutions and capacities but also to leverage on its cooperation with leading universities. With this cooperation, Ericsson is creating technology awareness among the future generation. In the same context, Ericsson has held a customized session at Notre Dame University, one of Lebanon’s leading universities with focus on Radio Evolution.

Head of Ericsson North Middle East, Mr. Tarek Saadi says: “with its suite of innovative options and continuous technology leadership, Ericsson is shaping the future of mobile and broadband internet communications. Together with Teliasonera, one of our customers in Sweden, we launched our first 4G commercial network in the world!”

Saadi continues: “Ericsson Full Service Broadband adds value in many new ways by delivering everything from entertainment and media such as interactive, personalized TV to new communication services that help end users reach anyone no matter where they are, no matter what device they are using.”

Commenting on low peak rates provided to end users in North middle East, Dory Chakour, Radio Director from Ericsson Middle East says: “High speed services as well as good coverage will be essential for success of any broadband service. These can be realized in cost efficient way by HSPA+ and Long Term Evolution (LTE).”

Furthermore, HSPA+ capabilities and LTE technology will play key role in achieving full service broadband and bridging the gap between mobile and fixed broadband by providing end users with high peak data rates concurrent with low cost per Gbyte. This, Chakour asserts, enables the operators to offer the services in attractive packages.
