Published Aug 2, 2010

Toshiba Computer Systems Division has appointed senior executive Binu Thomas to the newly created position Head of Sales for the Middle East and Levant regions.

In his new role, Thomas is responsible for developing product strategies for the mentioned regions and managing bespoke product planning for each market. His role involves ensuring the right product mix and timing, and that the products suit the market requirements. Thomas is also responsible in overseeing sell-in and sell-out of products, through quarterly planning with country managers’ support and feedback. Part of Thomas’ functions includes central management of the ‘power retailers,’ ensuring a solid support from Toshiba of various retail requirements.

“The appointment of Binu Thomas cements our ongoing commitment to support our customers and channel partners and further our presence in the Middle East and Levant regions,” shares Santosh Varghese, Regional General Manager, Computer Systems Division, Toshiba Gulf. “Thomas’s background and expertise contributes to Toshiba’s dedication to provide the best service and support that our partners require.” Toshiba Computer Systems Division concurrently celebrates its 25th year in producing the world’s first mass market laptop, solidifying its position as the leading notebook vendor.

“My role is to look at ways to expand sales opportunities and increase Toshiba’s market share in the region. Toshiba constantly innovates not only with providing quality products but also the best services towards its partners and consumers, and my role is to strengthen that position,” states Thomas.

Joining Toshiba in 2006, Thomas began his time as a Regional Service Manager of Middle East and Africa (MEA) for Toshiba PC Division where he assisted in developing direction and strategy for the Service Centres and Computer Systems Division. He also held the role of Regional Manager for Corporate Sales MEA, where he was responsible for business-to-business, corporate and large accounts and small-to-medium enterprise sales.
