Sony Gulf Launches VAIO J Series Slim Touchscreen Desktop In Middle East

Published Aug 4, 2010

Sony Gulf, the regional arm of consumer electronics giant Sony, has announced the launch of the new VAIO J Series (VPCJ118FG/B) multimedia computer featuring a 21.5 inch full-HD touchscreen with multi-touch VAIO display and a unique Media Gallery function housed in an aesthetically designed package to suit every interior.

The new VAIO J Series delivers an uncompromised HD entertainment experience in a beautiful, integrated design that puts unsightly cables out of sight. The computers unique ’loop’ structure offers space underneath the screen to stow the keyboard while watching movies or enjoying music.

A 21.5 (54.7cm) VAIO Display Plus screen dominates the slim, all-in-one design and offers plenty of space to display two full-size web pages side-by-side. Full HD 1080 resolution and multiple lamp technology ensure brilliantly detailed HD movies. Photos and games can be viewed in the same rich, vivid colours. The touchscreen also offers an intuitive way to view and interact with the web, documents and digital media collection.

The VAIO J Series provides plenty of power for a responsive digital media experience for work or play. Latest-generation Intel® Core™ i5-520m processors, integrating clock speeds of 2.40GHz going up to 2.93GHz with turbo boost, are complemented by NVIDIA® GeForce graphics for smooth video playback, gaming and 3D entertainment. Incorporating an impressive 500GB capacity hard disc, there’s also plenty of space for users to store their vast home multimedia collections.

The Media Gallery, a cornerstone function of the new VAIO J series, allows users to access their media collection at the touch of a fingertip and in HD clarity. The generously-sized touchpanel makes using the Media Gallery software easy. This ‘smart’ media player organises photos, videos and music for easy browsing with touch, flick, drag and rotate gestures. Media Gallery even tracks a user’s preferences and recommends new content to deliver a truly personalised entertainment experience.

Another pre-installed software, YouPaint, is an easy-to-use art package that offers creative fun for kids and parents alike. A huge palette of brushes, crayons, image pipes, tracing papers and more can be chosen to create a sparkling masterpiece. There is also a wide array of decorative stamps, which the screen’s multi-touch support enables one to resize and rotate with his/her fingertips. Users can even move and bounce stamps around the screen with exciting motion effects.

The VAIO Gate feature provides one-click access to users’ favourite programmes and media via a bar at the top of the desktop. A dedicated VAIO Care button helps identify and resolve any issues with the computer to maintain it at peak performance.

The built-in Bluetooth® provides connectivity options for cable-free communication with mobile phones, notebooks, mice and keyboards, printers, digital cameras and game consoles.

The new VAIO J Series touchscreen multimedia computer is available in the UAE in Jumbo Electronics and all other major retail electronics outlets from August 2010.
