Ericsson, the world's leading provider of technology and services to telecom operators, hosted a demo event that focused on the organization’s well-developed broadband and multimedia ecosystem, which delivers high speed data, enriches the customer experience and provides connectivity anywhere.
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the key behind such a tectonic shift on the communication turf. For the past three months the event was held in Dubai with the theme “Experience Tomorrow Today”, All major customers from the region visited the event where Ericsson provided an insight into the benefits and the latest evolutionary options brought about by LTE.
Addressing the attendees at the event, Ray Hassan, President and Head of Ericsson GCC, said, “Our customers are interested in implementing the latest technology in line with technology development worldwide which has unleashed a demand for evolutionary communication solutions. More importantly, broadband applications are the trigger for implementing next generation networks and new IP-based infrastructures.”
In the Middle East, where operators have already indicated their keenness to provide their customers with IP services and applications that enable enriched communication and personalized content, the growth of LTE is undisputed. Adopting the evolutionary technology provides broadband access to end-users which, among other things, provides them with a gateway to the web, mobile banking, mobile payments, video-on-demand, IPTV, entertainment, non-stop social communication and web connectivity. In sum, the multimedia market place not only provides entertainment but becomes a useful tool in users’ every day lives.
Ammar Ammar, Head of Solution Development, Mobile Broadband – GCC, made a presentation that focused on the future potential of LTE. He said, “LTE helps meet the surge in demand for new offerings and driving innovation with the establishment of communication infrastructure that optimizes operational costs and enriches the customer experience.”
Globally, the increasing demand for broadband connectivity indicates that some 200 million broadband users are currently anticipated to pave the way for greater deployment of broadband technology in 2010. Ericsson’s research predicts that there will be over 3 billion data subscriptions in the world in 2014. Around 80% will be served by mobile technologies dominated by HSPA+ and LTE.
