Sony Gulf Launches New Addition To Xplod Series Of Car Audio Systems

Published Aug 12, 2010

Sony Gulf, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation, announced the expansion of its Xplod® car audio range with the launch of two new digital music systems the DSX-S100 and DSX-S200X offering users the best portable sound solution.

The newly-launched DSX-S200X system is embedded with a seamless audio storage solution for added flexibility, along with a selection of modes to choose from depending on the preference of the listener.

Sony’s ‘Tune Tray’ digital interface gets a prominent place in a car’s centre console, yet is discreetly tucked away when not in use for neatness and safety. The front panel flips down at the touch of a button to reveal the Tune Tray, and users can use it to conceal a USB drive, WALKMAN® or any iPod/iPod touch.

The DSX-S200X has a sleek, detachable faceplate with a highly visible OEL 4-line display and a second USB connection, adding to its multi-tasking functionality. Hence, users who keep a USB drive constantly connected to the ‘Tune Tray’ can simultaneously play their latest music downloads from another portable player or smart phone, by connecting to the alternate USB port. The 4-line display provides more information with a look and feel familiar to a popular digital music player.

A unique portable player, the DSX-S100 also features the ‘Tune Tray’ for the safe storage of portable media players within the receiver, eliminating unsightly wires. It additionally includes a reminder alert to ensure the device is not left behind.
Music selection is made easy with the SensMe™ functions on the DSX-S200X and with ZAPPIN™ and Quick-BrowZer™ functions available on both players from Sony. Using the same technology as on the Walkman and VAIO, SensMe function allow users to automatically sort music into different channels by mood such as Freeway, Morning Commute, and Midnight Cruise.

The ZAPPIN function begins scanning and playing highlight of clips of an entire music collection to enable the user catch the song that feels just right. With the Quick-BrowZer function, searches can be done by artist, album, genre, playlist, file or folder, through simply rotating the volume dial and pressing to select.

The DSX-S200X also integrates Sony’s Advanced Sound Engine as the original digital signal processor, which delivers ideal in-car sound fields.

The DSX-S100 and DSX-S200X contain features such as the EQ3 and EQ7 respectively, as well as DM+ advanced, Rear Bass Enhancer and Dynamic Loudness.
The Xplod® DSX-S100 is currently available in the UAE at Jumbo Electronics and other major retail electronics outlets, while the Xplod® DSX-S200X will be available from September 2010 onwards.
