MoneyGram International Responds to Disaster in Pakistan

In response to the devastation caused by ongoing flooding in Pakistan, MoneyGram International (NYSE: MGI) announced today it is donating $3 from qualifying remittances to the country for relief efforts managed by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society. Aug. 20 through Sept.

20, $3 USD from each transaction made to Pakistan will be donated to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in Pakistan. Participating countries include:

•United Kingdom
•Bahrain
•Kuwait
•Oman
•Saudi Arabia
•United Arab Emirates
“The situation in Pakistan is one of the worst in recent memory and we want to do something to help people whose lives which have been devastated by the floods,” said Juan Agualimpia, MoneyGram’s chief marketing officer. “We are maximizing our $3 per transaction donation by implementing it in MoneyGram’s leading send countries to Pakistan. We encourage our customers in these regions and throughout the world to join us in assisting the people of Pakistan who have lost so much as a result of the floods.”

All MoneyGram agents in Pakistan, including Bank Al Falah, MCB Bank and Wall Street Exchange, are currently conducting business and thus recipients can readily collect remittances. “Remittances to Pakistan naturally increase during this time of Ramadan and Eid celebrations. We trust that will continue, making our mission to help Pakistanis even more successful,” added Agualimpia.
Last year, MoneyGram’s $1 million of community support included global relief efforts after disasters in El Salvador, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Samoa and Tonga.
