Nawras Goodwill Journey 6 is read to start its second phase by visiting various governorates and regions in the Sultanate and will be travelling thousands of kilometers from Muscat towards Al Awabi and Lewa in the Al Batinah region, Ibri in Adh Dhahirah Region and Wilayat Al Hamra and Nizwa of Ad Dakhliyah region. Volunteer team members will be delivering support to the centres and social development institutions of the various Wilayats.
As part of its caring and giving mission during this Holy Month of Ramadhan, the Nawras Goodwill Journey 6 team will donate items to the centres that include electronic appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, computers and ovens as well as mobile phones and recharge cards. In addition, the team will provide furniture for setting up laboratories and classrooms for the various charitable institutions.
The first phase of the journey was launched last week on August 21 2010, from the office of His Excellency Ahmed Bin Hilal Al Busaidi, in the wilayat of Quraiyat and continued its mission by visiting various wilayats of the Ash Sharqiyah and Al Wusta and ended in the wilayat of Salalah in the Dhofar governorate.
Nawras, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Scouts and Girl Guides organized a “Qarankshow” event last Wednesday in the childhood care centre at Al Khoud. The event included cultural shows, programmes and activities for the children and their families with gifts and sweets distributed for all during the event.
Nawras employees including members of senior management along with the members of the convoy team attended and played with the children, bringing joy and a pleasant experience to the families.
According to Khalid Ali Al Zadjali, Nawras Protocol and Events Manager and the leader of the trip, "We are fully committed to this journey and each year we seek to draw a smile on the faces of those who need support and help through the provision of a variety of donations that these people deserve.”
Al Zadjali added, “I would like to stress that we are very keen on the process of continuity in the provision of support and not just limiting ourselves to a certain period of time to make a difference. We are committed to the long term and are seeking real change in the lives of these people. We are pleased to see initiatives from other companies who have started to give some help and support too, especially at this time of the year. "
He explained how the Nawras Goodwill Journey is like a school where the participants are learning the true meaning of volunteer work and the philosophy of social work and the journey puts them in direct contact with the people. This gives them a deeper understanding of the community. They also now know how charities work and how important contributing support is to the various segments of society.
The Nawras Goodwill Journey began as an employee initiative six years ago. As a caring company, Nawras is fully committed to this annual time of giving while also supporting many other lesser known causes and needs in different community groups, continuously throughout the year.
