Consumer Electronics Leader Launches EGP 50,000 Award Program In Egypt

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader and award winning innovator in consumer electronics, recently hosted an event in Cairo to raise awareness about their corporate social responsibility initiative, the Samsung Real Dreams (SRD) Program.
Ms. Jakyung Kang, Public Relations Executive for Samsung Middle East and Africa (MEA) headquarters based in Dubai, provided a presentation of the SRD program, local initiatives, and the Samsung Real Dreams Award.
The Samsung Real Dreams Awards will reward grant awards of total EGP 50,000 to 5 student groups based on their actual prototypes.
The selected project are expected to be the seed for new business start ups and other business projects that students could take on after graduation.
All projects will be evaluated on the project’s scientific value (innovation), feasibility, relevance, research methodology as well as presentation, teamwork.
Along with the prototype, a written essay on why the student group feels their project is significant and how they expect to benefit from the Samsung funding will be submitted.
“Samsung is giving youth the tools and knowledge needed to imagine a future where they can be successful and make their dreams real,” said Ms.
Jakyung Kang, Public Relations Executive for Samsung Middle East and Africa (MEA).
“The long term goal and mission of Real Dreams Egypt is to foster a culture of youth entrepreneurship in Egypt and to improve prospects for employment and income generation for the thousands of young Egyptian men and women expected to enter the job market over the coming years. The program will target over 2,500 students and out of school youth”.
The Samsung Real Dreams Awards is part of Samsung’s CSR initiative Samsung “Real Dreams” program.
Samsung “Real Dreams” program aims to increase economic activity in the African region by promoting job skills and preparing young people for successful, long term careers.
The program is supported by a grant from Samsung and is being implemented by local partner organizations in each country.
In Egypt, Nahdet El Mahrousa is the program local partner.
“We are extremely happy to offer our support to Egyptian university students seeking to enhance their education", said Mr. Duke Park, General Manager Cairo Branch.
“Samsung is committed to providing education and employment opportunities for Egyptian youth and the Samsung Real Dreams Awards will give them the opportunity to showcase their skills and provide them with financial means to help them jump start their careers”.
The Samsung Real Dreams Award application process is now open to all students at university in their final year, majoring in Engineering, Science and Agriculture.
Students can apply at Ain Shams, Fayoum and Cairo University as well as youth centers in Menya and Ain Al Sira, where they have to pick up the proposal template.
This will provide students with the appropriate information to start their projects.
Awareness lectures have been held on site to explain the various components of the application process.
The 2 hour lectures will be split into two sections: the first part will introduce the Samsung Young Innovators partners, develop on the awards as well as the rules and regulations; while the second part of the lecture will focus on proposal writing for Research and Development.
This will help encourage students and give them a firm understanding of the awards.
