Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 Earns Top Rating In Matousec Proactive And Self-Protection Testing

Published Sep 20, 2010

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 received the highest possible rating from Matousec.com in a series of tests designed to check the solution’s proactive protection and self-protection capabilities.

Thirty-three Internet Security and Personal Firewall protection solutions were put under the microscope in the Matousec Proactive Security Challenge. Only four products, including Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, were awarded an Excellent accolade for offering the highest performance standards in every category. Matousec’s experts conducted 148 separate tests on each solution to determine the quality of protection against: malware intrusion, identity theft, the auto-launching of malware and attempts to disable the self-protection mechanisms of the products. In order to pass the test successfully, a solution needed to attain a score of at least 50% in each of the ten levels.

Kaspersky Lab’s product achieved a remarkable 92% overall. “Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 comes with improvements again. Today it reaches the Excellent level of protection in our challenge with its result of 92 %. Good job!” Matousec’s experts said in their report.

"Today, signature methods alone are incapable of coping with the growing stream of malware intrusions, which is why proactive protection methods are becoming increasingly prevalent in our new products. We are working not only to make the interface more user-friendly and boost performance but also to constantly enhance the existing heuristic technologies that detect and neutralize malware as well as developing new methods that are even more effective,” said Dmitry Ustyuzhanin, Director of Product Marketing, Consumer Business Division at Kaspersky Lab. “It’s good to hear that our efforts are being recognized in independent testing."

The solutions were tested on computers running under Windows XP, with Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8.
