Mobility And Analytics Can Drive New Levels Of Speed, Agility And Efficiency For Qatari Companies

Published Sep 22, 2010

According to SAP executives speaking in Doha, Qatar is perfectly placed to allow companies to benefit from a mobile platform for software solutions because of the State’s high mobile penetration rates, which stood at over 150 percent at the end of 2009 according to Business Monitor International’s Qatar Telecommunications Report Q2 2010.

In April, ictQATAR announced its ongoing commitment to increasing connectivity across Qatar, providing the ideal environment for businesses to utilize the power of mobile computing and software platforms.

“One of the highest priorities for organizations of any size and across any industry is managing the soaring quantity of data, and harnessing that information to improve their business,” said Robert Courteau, Chief Operating Officer, Global Field Operations, SAP.

“Speaking with our customers in Qatar, we understand their need for fast decision making based on real-time data analysis At the same time, these companies understand the power of extending the business process to knowledge workers on the go on mobile devices,” said Courteau. “Combining mobile solutions and real time analytics on the mobile device gives companies a sustainable business advantage and helps them run better,” continued Courteau.

In alignment with Qatar’s 2030 vision to become an advanced society capable of sustaining its development and providing a high standard of living for whole population, SAP believes that technology will be an enabler for strategic growth and investment as organizations strive to become best-run businesses.

In August, SAP and Sybase announced their shared strategy and joint product direction for the newly combined companies representing the market-leading position in enterprise applications, business analytics and mobile infrastructure.

“Only SAP can bring together the power of the world’s leading business applications and analytics to mobile workers through Sybase technology. This will change the way companies operate, and drive new levels of speed, agility and efficiency,” said Courteau.

“In Qatar, we anticipate that companies across various verticals, in particular energy, manufacturing, and public sector, will greatly benefit from the real time solutions provided by mobile computing as it allows employees to work instantaneously to access any type of data, anywhere, any place in real time,” said Gergi Abboud, Country Manager, SAP Qatar.

“In addition, in order for small and midsize companies to grow successfully they need solutions that can easily scale to keep pace. In order to address these requirements, SAP delivers market-leading business intelligence (BI) solutions that empower employees with intuitive access to information, giving them the visibility necessary to make smarter decisions,” continued Abboud.

Research firm Gartner predicts that by 2014, there will be a 90 percent mobile penetration rate and 6.5 billion mobile connections globally.1 This new generation of users demands immediate access to enterprise applications from any location at any time. The extension of existing applications and the delivery of new applications will broaden the reach of SAP solutions across mobile platforms and devices and accelerate the pace of mobile innovation for enterprises. SAP and Sybase already have co-innovated and delivered Sybase Mobile Sales for the SAP® Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) application and Sybase Mobile Workflow for SAP Business Suite.
