Sony Gulf FZE, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation, recently announced the release of a second firmware update (version 3.50) for the Playstation®3 console to support 3D Blu-ray Disc playback.

Currently available for download through the PlayStation® Network (PSN), the second free online firmware update allows users of PlayStation3 consoles to enjoy movie titles such as ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’, ‘Open Season’ and ‘Monster House’ on their 3D compatible BRAVIA® LCD TVs.

Tim Stokes, Director - Sales and Marketing, Sony Gulf, said: “We are extremely excited to be at the helm of a whole new immersive and realistic three dimensional experience with our end-to-end 3D offerings, ranging from 3D-enabled BRAVIA LCD TVs to 3D games and movies.

“With further introductions in 3D gaming and movie titles set to come out this year, the PS3 system will continue to be at the forefront of innovation to offer gaming enthusiasts and movie buffs a wholesome 3D experience.”

PlayStation3 already supports stereoscopic 3D gaming with a range of titles such as MotorStorm® Pacific Rift-and WipEout® HD, that are available for download from the PlayStation®Network (PSN).

In addition to the 3D-enabled Playstation3, Sony currently offers consumers a diverse line of 3D compatible home entertainment products including BRAVIA LED HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players and home theatre systems. Other 3D-enabled products from Sony include the Alpha digital still cameras with interchangeable lenses and the Cyber-shot digital still cameras.

Sony’s entire array of 3D products is available at all Jumbo Electronics showrooms in the UAE and other major retail electronics outlets across the region.
