Increased Demand For Wireless Network Solutions Across MENA’s Government Organizations

Wireless network solutions (WNS) being used by government sectors in the Middle East are on the increase, according to executives from MINERVA and the Motorola Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT).
“WNS are changing the manner in which governments and municipalities are interacting with the city today, to make people’s lives better. Multiple government sectors in the Middle East region are deploying their own networks to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency,” said Leo Psara, MINERVA Chairman.
“Municipalities and government entities, including police, transport authorities, and airport authorities are taking ownership of their communication networks and rolling out unified infrastructures. We are witnessing growing demand in applications that require city wide wireless networks, be it traffic monitoring, cameras, light and control systems, and traffic management systems,” continued Psara.
The wide array of wireless technologies available helps enable government sectors to implement many more applications for both employees and the general public, improving the quality of people’s lives within a municipal area.
For example, certain cities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region have deployed wireless networks with traffic cameras, to help them monitor and manage traffic situations, enabling their system to be more effective, safer and more secure.
For government entities investing in WNS this provides the opportunity for profitable return on investment with the payback period from changing a lease line to a wireless broadband link currently between 3-6 months in the Middle East region compared to 12-18 months in Europe. In addition, municipalities and government entities have ownership of their networks, giving them more flexibility to provide services and applications they want to offer.
“Motorola is committed to the development and on-going maintenance of a world-class portfolio of broadband wireless solutions for government, enterprise and service provider customers providing networking solutions designed for high-performance and high-speed connectivity,” said Nader Baghdadi, Regional Sales Manager, Motorola Wireless Network Solutions.
“Wireless local area networks (WLANs) have evolved from being niche installations, across logistics and supply chains, to running mission critical applications in almost every major vertical with growing adoption across government entities in the Middle East. Data security, communications and reliability are business enablers on which no organization can afford to compromise, thus having the right vendor and support is a key driver for every business,” continued Baghdadi.
Motorola delivers seamless connectivity that puts real-time information in the hands of users, which gives customers the agility they need to grow their business or better serve and protect the public. Working seamlessly together with its world-class devices, Motorola's wireless network solutions include indoor wireless LAN, outdoor wireless mesh, point-to-multipoint, point-to-point networks and voice-over-WLAN solutions.
