Symantec To Educate Visitors On Securely Adopting New Business Models Online At GITEX 2010

Published Oct 10, 2010

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) will demonstrate its security suites, archiving solution and new offerings tailored for the Enterprise and SMB markets at the 2010 GITEX Technology Week.

Symantec will also demonstrate how it is integrating products from its recent acquisitions, including Verisign and PHP. In addition Symantec will host customers at the stand and brief them on its roadmap for 2011, explaining the ways that Middle East businesses can keep up with device refresh cycles and the growing mobile workforce:

“At this year’s GITEX, we will showcase how Symantec can help business adopt new computing models - cloud computing, virtualization, social networking, mobile computing while protecting their information,” said Johnny Karam, Regional Manager – MENA Symantec. “Economic recovery is now the focus. This means supporting customers with cost-effective, standardized solutions that help them control costs and better utilize their infrastructure.”

“On the security side, we are currently seeing a particular demand for solutions such as endpoint management and server and storage consolidation,” continued Karam. “With the security threat landscape becoming more complex and more dynamic every year, businesses have learnt through painful experiences that an anti-virus and a firewall are not sufficient to keep them protected. Multi-layer, behaviour and reputation-based solutions are critical to securing information. There is a distinct move away from securing infrastructure and appliances, toward securing information and interactions”

Symantec will use its presence at Gitex to educate visitors on cloud computing and software as a service (SaaS) technologies that are gaining significant traction as important delivery models for IT services. Symantec recognises that many organisations are still coming to terms with the cloud computing delivery model and how best to take advantage of it. Jesper Frederiksen, Vice President EMEA, Symantec Hosted Services will be speaking at the Cloud Confex to highlight how businesses can best capitalise on the benefits of SaaS.

Other Symantec panelists at GITEX include Prajit Arakkal, Director, SMB & Distribution Sales for Emerging Markets, who will join an SMB panel discussion on SME basics including ‘Getting More with Less – Technology Procurement’ and ‘Making Technology Work for a Small Organisation’; and Bulent Teksoz, Regional Technology Manager – MENA, Symantec, who will be explaining the concept of ‘Identity and Access Management.’

This year, Symantec will have a prime location in Hall 3, Stand C3-1; which will consist of two meeting rooms, a presentation theatre area and a solution demonstration area where it will showcase its 360º offering for enterprises and consumers. Symantec is taking part in the GITEX Global Conference and will also have a stand manned by the Symantec Hosted Services team in the new Cloud Confex area.
