Canon Launches World’s Slimmest 10x Zoom Camera

Published Oct 10, 2010

Canon marks ten years of its stylish IXUS digital camera series with the launch of the incredible IXUS 1000 HS, the world’s slimmest 10x optical zoom camera. Available in pink, silver and brown, this model takes the range to new heights, fusing high-tech features and signature IXUS styling to provide premium image quality and head-turning looks in one outstanding package.

"Canon's IXUS range of cameras has always been sought-after for its fashionable styling and high-end specifications. There is no better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this popular series than to welcome the all-new, best-in-class IXUS 1000 HS. With its fresh design and leading-edge Full HD capabilities in a stylish and easy-to-use package, the IXUS 1000 HS is set to propel the popularity of the IXUS range to new heights and be this season’s must have digital camera," said Jason Rego, Product Manager, Canon Middle East.

At the time of its launch ten years ago, the IXUS was the world’s smallest and lightest digital camera with an optical zoom lens in the 2-megapixel sensor class. Ten years on, the brand is still considered a trend-setting digital camera, continuing to embody the iconic IXUS design and to impress consumers with its innovative technologies that consistently deliver high image quality.

“We are excited to offer consumers the latest Canon innovation in DSC technology. The IXUS 1000 HS delivers the highest image quality available in the IXUS range, and the new high sensitivity sensor allows users to take better photos in a wider range of situations including low-light scenes. We are confident the new product line up will surpass consumer expectations and reinforce Canon’s reputation for imaging excellence in the DSC category,” added Rego.

Obtaining clearer and crisper images in low light situations has often been a challenge for regular DSC users. Canon’s innovative HS system cleverly addresses this issue enabling users to capture extremely low lit environments in stunning clarity even without the help of a flash. The new range of IXUS cameras featuring the HS system will be an essential accessory in low-light situations whether that is enjoying a sunset or dinner with friends in a dimly lit restaurant.
