NETGEAR Partners With Intel To Launch TV Adapter For Intel Wireless Display

Published Oct 12, 2010

NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking and storage products, has partnered with IT giant Intel to launch ‘Push2TV’, a new TV adapter that enables consumers to display their entire laptop computer screens on their big screen HDTVs, thereby delivering an optimal wireless connected experience for Intel notebook users. Compatible with select laptops featuring Intel Wireless Display and powered by the all new 2010 Intel Core Processor Family, the wireless dual band adapter (PTV1000) is designed to beam practically everything to the big screen TV - from media stored on the computer, such as latest movie downloads, to content from the home network - while providing the speed and reliability needed for video streaming. In essence, ‘Push2TV’ offers an extension of the browsing and viewing experience on the PC, while also addressing the problem of restricted website access or file format playback that consumers generally face with existing solutions.

Combining both NETGEAR’s and Intel’s leadership and innovation in advanced technology, ‘Push2TV’ also allows users to wirelessly access any media files on a laptop or on other devices on a home network. Intel Wireless Display captures fully rendered display frames in real-time and sends the compressed video and audio directly to ‘Push2TV’ via Intel My WiFi technology, the industry's first commercially available Wi-Fi Personal Area Network (PAN) or Wi-Fi Direct solution, thereby creating a protected short-hop high-bandwidth wireless connection between the laptop and the adapter. Moreover, the new solution comes preloaded on the new-generation notebooks powered by the 2010 Intel Core Processor Family.

“The demand for products that offer exceptional entertainment experience in the home continue to witness a major uptrend, and we see tremendous potential in this segment across the region,” said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East. “Our partnership with Intel and the advanced technology of our ‘Push2TV’ adapter enable us to leverage this potential-laden market, thereby putting us in a leading position to deliver an innovative product that lets customers view and share content on the biggest screen in their homes.”

Combined with Intel Wireless Display, ‘Push2TV’ can significantly reduce the website restrictions and the wireless bandwidth overhead by up to 50 percent compared to other solutions where the TV adapter connects to the home network or gateway. Connecting a laptop to ‘Push2TV’ is also made simple through an easy and intuitive interface that enables a protected connection and hides all the networking complexity found in existing solutions. Backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, the adapter is slightly larger than a deck of cards with a sleek black minimalist and mobile design, which makes it convenient to carry during business trips and vacations.

"The Intel® Wireless Display, available on select laptops featuring Intel's all new 2010 Core family processors, and the NETGEAR Push2TV adapter have taken the complexity out of sharing content," said Nassir Nauthoa, Intel General Manager for the GCC. "Thanks to this innovative technology, users in the UAE can download or stream HD content on their laptop, and watch the footage on a large HD screen at the press of a button.”
