Dubai Silicon Oasis To Host High-Profile Technology Conference At GITEX 2010

Published Oct 14, 2010

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, announced it will participate for the eighth successive year in GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010, the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East.

DSO will host a one-day seminar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in Building Technology Companies in the MENA Region’ at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010 that will be held from 17-21 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Industry professionals from technology majors such as Oasis 500, CMEA Capital, Global Foundries, CISCO, Motorola, SonicWall, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys and Ericsson will gather on 18 October for the seminar at Al Multaqua Ballroom to share their insights.

The initiative follows DSO’s outstanding success in hosting a similar event in 2009 titled ‘Lessons from the Chinese Hi-Tech Eco-System to Benefit Dubai/UAE’.

From its stand located at Z-C 10 Zabeel Hall, DSO will leverage its presence at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010 to highlight its hi-tech ecosystem designed for the technology industry.

Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak, Deputy CEO at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), said: “GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK remains one of the largest ICT exhibitions in the Middle East and Africa region and a vital platform for us to interact with industry experts, and decision makers. It also serves as an ideal tool to highlight our value proposition and the hi-tech ecosystem we are developing.

“The MENA market is one of the most exciting and rapidly expanding places in the world right now for technology. We have carefully planned this forum to facilitate an optimum exchange of information. We are also thankful to all the speakers who will share their expert perspectives that will eventually contribute to the development of the technology sector in the region.”

Visitors to the 30th edition of GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK will have an opportunity to learn about DSO’s solid value proposition and free-zone benefits such as competitive cost of operations, state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced IT network and 100 per cent ownership.

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development (R&D) facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
