Thuraya To Demonstrate Live Video Streaming Through IP Solution At GITEX 2010

As part of providing an enhanced customer experience, Thuraya will be demonstrating live a series of customized data, maritime and voice solutions during GITEX 2010. At the Thuraya stand which is themed according to vertical market segments, the world leading mobile satellite operator will be offering visitors the opportunity to trial cutting-edge satcom solutions, such as Thuraya IP and the world’s toughest satellite phone, Thuraya XT from the Company’s advanced portfolio of products.

GITEX is a platform where Thuraya will be displaying specialized solutions for the broadcast media, maritime, defense, aviation, oil and gas and the disaster management and emergency services.

Specifically, during the region’s largest ICT event, Thuraya will be displaying the video-streaming capabilities of the world’s smallest satellite broadband solution, Thuraya IP through live feeds from two different locations. This is in addition to the Quicklink solution which facilitates the transmission and delivery of low latency, real time broadcast video for broadcast media users of Thuraya IP.

“Visitors to the Thuraya stand will be able to witness live the features of a range of data and voice solutions that will be on show during GITEX 2010. As the Company that was the first to provide video-streaming speeds of up to 384 Kbps through Thuraya IP we have ensured that customers can watch live video feeds that will be streamed onto screens in real time with our compact broadband solution,” said Thuraya’s Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Ali Al Mazrooei.

He also added that the world’s most rugged satellite handheld, Thuraya XT which has enhanced voice quality will also be available for live viewing at the event.

For the maritime sector, Thuraya is displaying the Seagull 5000 and a broadband marine terminal supplied by Comtech.

Other solutions to be exhibited by Thuraya include specialized antennas, such as the SCAN Antenna, European Antenna and the Comms on the Move compact antenna designed for satellite broadband communications for moving vehicles at high speeds.

Moreover, the world’s first netted communications solution, Thuraya NettedComms that integrates different communication technologies into a single closed user group, enabling users to communicate effectively through Thuraya IP will be on show.

Thuraya will also be showcasing its narrowband aeronautical solution that provides voice, fax and 9.6Kbps circuit switch data, as well as GmPRS data at speeds of up to 60 Kbps.

As the world leader in mobile satellite handhelds, Thuraya will be showing the smart SG-2520 dual mode GSM and satellite handheld alongside the XT handheld.
