Region’s Top Telecommunications Experts To Convene At SAMENA’s ‘Convergence To Casablanca 2010

SAMENA Telecommunications Council, the tri-regional telecommunications consortium has announced their annual flagship event ‘Convergence to Casablanca 2010’ to be held from 26-28 October 2010 at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Morocco. Themed ‘Transforming Challenges into Growth’, the conference will provide SAMENA members and non-members with the opportunity to discuss key technology areas and their impacts on the technological progression and revenue generation.
Mr. Bocar A. Ba, President of SAMENA said, “The regional telecommunications industry has grown through innovation which is driven by the continually escalating consumer demands, and the importance of integration of various technological strands to deliver innovative solutions has never been more. In an extremely competitive industry such as the one we operate in, the need of the hour is to collaborate to create a knowledge-intensive pool and SAMENA Telecommunications Council is taking the lead and promoting collaboration between industry players to encourage the industry to transcend innovation to the next evolutionary pedestal.”

This high-profile CEO-level annual gathering will feature a number of high profile speakers and CEOs such as Eng. Saud Al Daweesh – Saudi Telecom Company, Dr. Amer Al Rawas – Omantel, Osman Sultan – du, Ms. Nayla Khawam – Orange Jordan Telecom Group, Mr. Ahmed Khaouja, Director of Competition and Operators, Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications (ANRT), Dr. Imad Hoballah – Telecom Regulatory Authority, Lebanon and Mr. Mohamed El Mandjra – Meditel, in addition to other industry experts representing leading telecommunications organizations such as Etisalat, Mobily, Batelco, NSN, Huawei, Cisco, Telcordia, and Qualcomm among others.
SAMENA Telecommunications Council is also organizing ‘The 3rd Annual SAMENA Awards’ in conjunction with the gala dinner on October 27th, 2010 to recognize leadership and excellence in the telecommunications industry in the SAMENA region. The four categories of the awards that will be bestowed upon the most deserving telecommunications organizations and professionals, assessed after a meticulous performance-based evaluation are: Operator Awards, Suppliers/Manufacturers Awards, Regulator Awards, and Individual Awards.
‘Convergence to Casablanca 2010’ will also feature the first-ever “The Souk @ SAMENA” from 27-28 October 2010, providing mobile and fixed Operators, Vendors and Regulators with a one-stop solution and an opportunity to meet and discover the business niche they are looking for such as International Wholesale, Roaming Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, Preferred Agreements, the latest and trendy solutions among others.
In addition, SAMENA will also be hosting the SAMENA International Roaming Group (SIRG) Meeting, Regulatory Committee Meeting and Technology Committee Meeting on the second day of the conference, bringing together the members of each committee to provide an update, discuss new developments and success stories and address any issues faced by the telecommunications industry within each committee’s scope of operation.
A key moment of ‘Convergence to Casablanca 2010’ will be the CEO’s Live Session which will provide a panel of leading regional CEO’s with an opportunity to interact with the moderator and the audience in a manner that allows debate for a better understanding of their thoughts and mindsets toward their leadership of the Operators in the region.
