Curtains Close On GITEX As Etisalat Opens Doors To The Future

As the year’s most awaited and important technology event comes to a close, Etisalat’s participation in the GITEX Technology Week reaches its grand finale with a roaring success and high volume of visitors at Etisalat’s exhibition stands at Gitex GulfComms, the Gitex Shopper and GulfComms conference. Keeping its promise of ‘Your Future Starts Here’, Etisalat demonstrated and launched trend-setting services and solutions, signed strategic partnerships and introduced best deals, prices and bundle offers during the 30th edition of the GITEX technology week.

Unveiling its futuristic solutions that are tailored to suit customers’ ever-changing lifestyles, Etisalat announced the launch of the region’s highest downlink speeds of up to 42.2MBps on its next generation HSPA+ mobile network in the last quarter of 2010. Etisalat also demonstrated the Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G technology, designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile networks to provide customers with downlink speed of 150Mbps and 50Mbps uplink speed.

To showcase the LTE 4G network capabilities, Etisalat hosted the Middle East’s first display of the ‘LTE Connected Car’ during GITEX. The LTE connected car is an example of how this technology is supporting a new class of vehicle-centric, travel-centric, and entertainment-centric applications and services to transform the end-user experience.

Amongst other demonstrations, Etisalat showcased its complete home entertainment services that focused on enhancing a customer’s experience at all levels. eLife, which is based on the advanced fiber-optic technology, opens up endless possibilities and technologies for consumers through its high speed broadband, IPTV and voice bundles. Visitors to the stand experienced the future of unlimited entertainment options through the ‘Digital Home’ section that depicts the benefits of high speed 30Mbps broadband Internet connection that enables customers to enjoy multiple bandwidth-hungry applications like Internet TV streaming, online gaming, file downloads and much more.

Gitex 2010 witnessed the launch of the most awaited BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone and the new BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone in the UAE. Etisalat also announced GITEX promotions for BlackBerry customers on a wide range of BlackBerry smartphones.

Business visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to explore and experience contemporary technologies like cloud computing, public telepresence, Machine to Machine (M2M) communications and Managed Voice application. Moreover, Etisalat demonstrated many industry specific applications such as mHealth, focusing on healthcare, RFID tracking for Retail, Construction management solutions, and many more.

Etisalat announced plans to introduce an environment friendly project – “Emirates Energy Star” in collaboration with Pacific Control Systems. The project is the first-of-its-kind in the region that aims to substantially reduce energy consumed by existing buildings in the UAE.

An exciting launch at GITEX also included the Mobile Trading Services platform for the online brokerages in UAE. The service aims to harness mobile technology to provide quick and convenient stock trading service to the stock brokers and their customers, while promising to increase the trading volume at the Dubai and Abu Dhabi stock exchanges.

Etisalat also launched the first permission-based mobile advertising service in the UAE that will mobilise brands, advertising agencies and media houses, while giving customers the choice to receive ads and offers that match their interests from their favorite brands on their mobile phones.
