Foneswap Collects One Mobile Phone Every Three Minutes At GITEX Shopper

A busy foneswap pavilion at GITEX Shopper 2010 saw more than 2000 mobile phones being recycled for cash and gift vouchers. Rising above all expectations, Technocare, the Reverse Logistics specialist company that manages the foneswap program collected an average of one mobile phone unit every three minutes at the electronics and technology exhibition.
The value proposition provided by foneswap at GITEX Shopper generated an extremely positive response with over 85% of the trade-ins being high end smart phones. Additionally, the program also generated extensive awareness on the benefits of reducing mobile phone e-waste.

Thousands of visitors and customers were offered information on the environmental hazards created by discarding mobile phones through non-environmental friendly routes. This initiative was well received by the customers as it threw light on the ways to encourage e-waste management.
Several UAE universities showed high levels of interest to work along with foneswap to set up on campus e-waste recycling programs while trade visitors from around the GCC opened immediate talks with Technocare to roll out foneswap mobile phone recycling programs in their countries.
