Software AG's University Relations Program To Boost Expertise And Drive Career Prospects Of Graduates In Oman

Published Nov 1, 2010

Software AG has announced that it will soon introduce its University Relations Program (URP) in Oman in cooperation with its local partner Bahwan CyberTek (BCT), providing Omani students a rare opportunity to boost their technical know-how by giving them access to state-of-the-art work experiences that are normally not available to students. The URP is designed to help enhance the professional expertise of graduates in Oman and subsequently complement the country's human resource development initiatives, benefitting companies and employers all over the country and ultimately supporting the sustainable growth of the national economy.

A key component of the program is its provision of free university licenses for leading service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process excellence (BPE) software and technologies such as Adabas, Natural, CentraSite, EntireX, ApplinX, webMethods Suite BPM, ARIS Business Architect, and ARIS Server. Participating universities will also be entitled to expert guest lectures, case studies delivered in pre-defined project packages, Bachelor and Master theses, internships, and company visits.

“Through our URP agreement in Oman we will be able to introduce the country’s students to the leading tools and techniques to help them solve real economy challenges. The program offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment and deal with real-world problems, giving the students access to state-of-the-art work experiences that are normally not possible because of the limited number of high-quality external work experiences available to them,” said Marco Gerazounis, Senior Vice President, Software AG Middle East. “This initiative forms part of our global efforts to include BPE, SOA, Business Activity Monitoring and Application Modernization principles in computer science, IT and even business administration curricula. We want to help educational institutions emphasize the role of technology in helping enterprises adapt and succeed amidst today’s rapidly evolving business environments.”

Software AG’s latest URP project is “Campus Connect,” a pre-packaged case study which empowers students to create a process-driven, state-of-the-art Campus Management System. The project will be launched in 40 institutes on 5 continents throughout 2010.

Over the past three years more than 90 projects have been implemented in universities throughout the world as part of the University Relations Program. The Omani partnership will extend Software AG’s current academical relationships with more than 130 universities and research institutions worldwide and will bring more regional focus on the company’s stature as a leading SOA and BPE solutions provider.
