More than 1,000 Middle East business leaders met in Dubai as SAP, the world’s leading provider of business software, hosted the biggest technology and business event in the Middle East SAP Forum 2010 for its customers, partners, industry influencers, and prospects.
The focus of the event, under the theme of ‘New Strategies for New Times’, was to outline SAP’s plans to provide customers with solutions that are ‘on premise, on demand, and on device’ ensuring that companies in the region have access to in-memory computing and mobile technologies that enable real-time transparencies to help gain the insight they need to make strategic decisions.
"Businesses in the MENA region need to rapidly adapt to manage the soaring quantity of structured and unstructured data present in transactional or analytical applications as well as collaborative data repositories. The four pillars of our strategy – On Premise, On Demand, On Device and Orchestration – are essential to making enterprise applications and information accessible to all, at high speeds, on any device and in an orchestrated and transparent manner," said José Duarte, President, SAP, EMEA+India.
Since outlining its plans at SAPPHIRE® NOW for how in-memory computing will dramatically increase the availability and speed of business information, SAP, alongside key partners and customers, has made significant strides for its latest in-memory computing innovation, SAP High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA) software. Most notably, a co-innovation program for early customers is now up and running in conjunction with key partners. SAP HANA is a new appliance that will enable business users to instantaneously access, explore, model, and analyze this data in real time in a single environment, without impacting existing applications or systems.
“Virtualization and cloud technologies are key trends in today’s data centers and continue to be the top two technology priorities for CIOs. According to Gartner1, and a recent internal study among SAP customers indicated that 70 percent surveyed are actively evaluating virtual and cloud platforms,” said Sam Alkharrat, managing director, SAP MENA.
Today, two-thirds of the world population has a mobile device and SAP's On Device strategy plays an important role in how the company will build consumable applications that create instant value for our customers who are business users and consumers. The goal of the SAP mobility strategy is to increase the adoption, reach, and value of SAP solutions by delivering more applications on multiple device platforms with the rich user experience that customers expect. SAP's on-device approach is to design and build simple, instant value applications that are functional and reach a broad base of users in an ‘always-connected model.’
“Mobility is a key focus for Middle East business leaders and enterprise workers expect their business applications to be mobile, unlocking the value of a company’s platform and allowing people to make real time decisions while on the move – workers are no longer restricted to the desktop,” continued Alkharrat.
Using the new in-memory computing technology from SAP will give customers real-time transparency into their business and help ensure that they are executing their corporate strategies as planned. Moving forward, SAP customers will be able to develop better business simulations and plans, do real-time inventory and price optimizations, or quickly evaluate the effect of currency changes in financial systems. The speed and agility provided by in-memory computing will change the game for our customers, allowing them become the best-run companies in their industries.
