Motorola Demonstrates Strength In Mobile Sector As Outlined In Third-Quarter 2010 Financial Results

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) recently reported sales of $4.9 billion in the third quarter of 2010, up 13 percent from the third quarter a year ago, and the Mobile Devices segment sales were $2.0 billion, up 20 percent compared with the year-ago quarter.
“Motorola is witnessing global strength in the growth of the mobile devices segment and this is echoed in the Middle East as seen by the successful introduction of the MILESTONE smartphone this summer and the forthcoming FLIPOUT and DEFY launches at the end of the year,” said Mahmoud Sayed Ahmed, Marketing Director for mobile devices at Motorola Middle East.
“Our key focus moving forward is to provide devices with broad appeal that meet the browsing and social messaging needs of consumers in the region who are interested in intuitive, easy-to-use, pocketable devices,” continued Ahmed.
Globally, the Mobile Devices division of Motorola shipped of 3.8 million smartphones with a total of 22 smartphones introduced during 2010. In the third quarter, Motorola Mobility showed positive momentum across the business, with Mobile Devices reaching profitability for the first time in over three years.
As Motorola continues to enhance and broaden its mobile devices portfolio, the focus will be on providing innovative, high-performance smartphones that deliver the best experiences to consumers in the Middle East who enjoy everything the mobile Internet has to offer.
