Xerox Debuts iGen4 EXP; Elevates Industry’s Most Widely Used High-End Digital Color Press

Published Nov 9, 2010

Xerox Corporation has made the best digital color production press even better. Hundreds of successful customers and billions of profitable images after the company launched its breakthrough iGen4® press in 2008, the company has unveiled an even more productive version.

The iGen4 EXP – the latest model built on the award-winning iGen4 platform – gives users an immediate productivity spike with a host of new prepress and finishing capabilities and the industry’s largest digital cut-sheet solution available.

The new system offers nearly 50 percent more image area than competitive devices – translating to more sellable output and increased profits. Ordertaking for the Xerox iGen4 EXP begins immediately, and beginning in 2011 users can easily convert traditional iGen4 presses to iGen4 EXP.

“The high-end capabilities of the iGen4 press have allowed print service providers to push the boundaries of digital print and spur growth in areas such as direct mail, sales collateral and photo publishing,” said Dan Smith, General Manager for Integrated Marketing, Xerox, MEA (DMO). “iGen4 EXP puts even more power in the users’ hands – set-up time is reduced, productivity is increased and new high-value applications can be created with 24/7 production.”

Key iGen4 EXP capabilities include:

- Largest sheet size (14.33" x 26") in class – produces multi-up jobs such as full-size tri-fold brochures, postcards and greeting cards, or extra large book covers and jackets on 14.33" x 26" sheet size. The larger sheet size prints 40 sheets per minute and essentially accelerates the iGen4 system’s print speed to 120 8.5" x 11" (A4) impressions per minute, helping users push more jobs through the shop.

Stock can be fed from a modified paper tray or roll system. A Multigraf stacker collects the output of large sheets and stacks them in removable carts for easy delivery to cutting, coating and other finishing options.

- Automated Web to Finish solution – makes touchless workflow achievable – from ordering to finished product with no manual setup or intervention and will be available in early 2011. The solution leverages Xerox FreeFlow® Digital Workflow Collection, along with software and finishing options from Xerox business partners, to streamline the production process as orders come in, quickly changing and synchronizing production instructions as needed.

- Integration with Adobe PDF Print Engine – drives quick and reliable printing of native Adobe PDF files. Expanded prepress and make-ready productivity improves how users access and implement spot colors and transparencies – which means less proofing cycles.
