du Demonstrates Its Commitment To Employees As The First UAE Telco To Launch On-Site Clinic

With the granting of a family medicine and occupational health specialist licence by the concerned regulatory departments, du is reinforcing its position as an employer of choice by establishing a first-of-its-kind on-site medical clinic for its employees. Led by Emirati Dr. Mansoor Anwar Habib Jaffar Ali, du is now among the pioneer companies in the UAE to extend top-of-the-line medical services to its employees, thereby ensuring their welfare. The clinic is located at Al Salam Tower - du’s headquarters in Dubai Media City.

“At du, we take the well-being of our employees with the utmost seriousness and the aim of this latest initiative is to provide a facility which not only offers medical treatment but educates people on healthy habits and encourages physical activity,” commented Fahad Al Hassawi, Chief Human Resources and Shared Services Officer, du.

“Occupational health is the emerging new issue arising globally nowadays. Since du recognises that a healthy employee is a productive employee, the on-site clinic will assist employees to feel at ease, empower them with knowledge and be their advocate in terms of their health and well-being,” stated Dr. Mansoor Anwar Habib Jaffar Ali, Director - Medical and Occupational Health Services, du.

du’s on-site clinic represents a revolution in the regional corporate environment and demonstrates the company’s unique approach to improving productivity, offering medical services specialised in family medicine and occupational health practices covered by the insurance schemes offered by the company. The clinic is headed by Dr. Mansoor and is fully equipped with a full-time crew and state-of-the-art equipment necessary for case by case assessment, treatment and referrals.

The available services range from preventative screening of chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure and diabetes, health promotion and advice for healthy habits to treatment of a range of acute and chronic illnesses.

Briefly about Dr. Mansoor:

Dr. Mansoor holds M.B.B.S in Medicine and Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a Master’s with distinction in Occupational Health from Birmingham University (UK), along with a PhD in family medicine from the Arab Board of Medical Specialisations. Moreover, Dr Mansoor garners the international membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners of UK (MRCGP, Dubai Centre), and is an examiner on the membership examiners panel.

Prior to joining du recently, Dr. Mansoor served in the UAE Ministry of Health and the Dubai Health Authority for a otal period of nine years. In addition, he has been an active speaker in the yearly GCC Occupational Health Conference since 2007 and is an avid guest on TV health-related shows, as well as being a newspaper health columnist.

du is 39.5 per cent owned by the UAE Federal Government, 19.75 per cent by Mubadala Development Company, 19.5 per cent by Emirates Communications & Technology Company LLC and the remaining stake by public shareholders. It is listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and trades under the name du.
