Huawei Voices Optimism Over LTE Growth At The North Africa Com

Published Nov 22, 2010

Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world participated in North Africa Com delivering a seminar on the market expectation on LTE. The conference which took place in Cairo for two days aimed to drive growth in North Africa’s communication scene by introducing new trends and technologies in the LTE arena.

LTE provides a unified platform for perfect convergence in the 4th Generation network which provides an All-IP, high speed, low latency and high frequency efficiency mobile network. LTE technology delivers new mobile data rates, which enable telecom operators to introduce the fastest mobile broadband experience to their customers.

“The growth potential for the LTE technology is huge; we are witnessing a growth rate of 100% per annum since 2009 from 38 operators in 10 countries to 60 operators in 20 countries by end of this year. By 2014 we are expecting more than 120 million subscribers enjoying the wide spectrum of services the LTE offers.”, Said Mr. Bernard Tam (Huawei speaker)

Huawei won the world's first LTE commercial contract from TeliaSonera in Oslo, Norway, achieving speeds of 90.6 Mbps and a maximum rate of 100Mbps. This is a global milestone in network development and is a staggering 10 times faster than 3G networks.

LTE can also facilitate the introduction of new services in areas that have not yet been fully explored for wireless services interaction; these include consumer electronics and appliances, health care, public utilities, and telematics.

The North Africa Com is an established communications congress dedicated solely to North Africa. The annual 2 day conference has confirmed more than 30 speakers including 12 CxO operators and gathers more than 600 regional telco decision makers yearly.
