Emirates Computers Deploys State-of-the-Art Storage Solution for Abu Dhabi’s Judiciary Department

Published Jul 23, 2009
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Emirates Computers announced the successful deployment of a state-of-the-art storage and archiving solution for the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department (ADJD).

The solution will enable ADJD to cost-effectively and efficiently store all archived data and use the centralized backup module to restore any part or the whole system easily.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department is a governmental body that ensures the delivery and administration of justice and equality for all citizens and residents throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It supervises and coordinates the primary legal and judicial mechanisms and processes that protect individual rights and safeguard the rule of law.

“Since Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department’s jurisdiction covers the entire emirate of Abu Dhabi, access to data, anytime, anywhere, becomes critical. The department was using a single tier storage system and all the data was being stored on a single fiber channel storage system. With data growing at a very fast rate, ADJD felt the need to have a multi-tiered storage system to store and manage data effectively,” explained Mr. Tarek Al Alami, Sales Director - strategic key accounts, Emirates Computers.

The solution was designed as an efficient storage and archiving solution built on EMC’s concept of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). The products used in this project included EMC Clariion, EMC Centera, EMC Rainfinity, EMC Celerra NAS Gateway, EMC RecoverPoint, EMC Networker and Homebase Software. With this solution, Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department will have more storage space for structured data. In addition, data can be moved automatically from a Clariion system to a Centera system, based on the type of data, age and frequency of use.

“Since Emirates Computers had deployed other projects for us in the past, we were already comfortable working with them and hence we decided to award this project to them. We are happy that their team spent time studying our requirements, identified the problem and offered us a comprehensive solution to help address our needs,” said the IT Director,at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

“The project to the client is a framework rather than equipment to manage and store their data using the latest technologies. The model that the customer is using has been implemented only for few niche customers in the Middle East. This new solution will help the department streamline its data, create back-ups and save costs,” concludes Mr. Al Alami.
