Microsoft Jordan Open Door 2010 Kicks Off With Demonstrations On Cloud Computing And The Latest IT Technologies

Microsoft Jordan kicked off the largest technical event of the year with over 1000 local IT professionals and experts participating in the Microsoft Open Door 2010. The two day event is an opportunity for the local ICT community to interact, discuss and experience the very latest developments and technologies impacting the ICT industry in Jordan and around the world.

Michel Diab, Business, Marketing & Operations Director for Microsoft North Africa, Eastern Mediterranean and Pakistan (NEPA), stated, “This event is an opportunity for us to further strengthen our relations with the local ICT community, and we are very pleased with the exceptional turnout of people from all levels of involvement in the IT industry, which is in no small part due to the rich and comprehensive range of topics that the Open Door is presenting.”

Diab went on to say, “In addition to providing us with an opportunity to showcase the very latest Microsoft technologies, from Sharepoint 2010 and Windows 7 to the recently launched Kinect for Xbox and Windows Phone 7, the primary focus of this year’s Microsoft Open Door is Cloud Computing, with a significant number of sessions dedicated to demonstrating the potential and opportunities available for IT professionals and developers to help transform the way businesses and individuals use technology and solve actual business tasks.”

The first day of the interactive and technology-rich event consisted of presentations from top technology experts from Microsoft Corporation and the region, as well as recognized local industry experts who presented various sessions on a wide range of topics. The sessions were divided into three tracks for IT professionals, Developers and Technical Managers, and the topics covered included Cloud Computing, Virtualization, Windows 7, Internet Explorer 9, Exchange 2010, Microsoft Lync 2010, Microsoft Office 2010 for IT Professionals, SharePoint 2010, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and ERP, as well as Microsoft Dynamics AX.

The Open Door participants were also treated to demonstrations on the latest IT trends and technologies from some of Microsoft’s senior regional representatives including Aben Kovoor, who highlighted the opportunities available on the Microsoft platform for Developers, IT professionals, Start Up Businesses, Students and Partners. Goksin Bakir, the Azure and Client Lead for Middle East and Africa provided his insight on the latest developments concerning technologies like .NET Application Development, Security, cloud architecture and application integration. While Asli Bilgin discussed the future vision for software development in the Cloud through hosters, web startups, and design agencies.

The Microsoft Open Door 2010 also provided participants with an opportunity to experience some of the more fun technologies that the software giant has developed including the much talked about Kinect for Xbox 360, as well as the slick, streamlined and recently launched Windows Phone 7, which has been positively received by consumers throughout the world and is being recognized as the Windows mobile for the next generation.

Microsoft Jordan also demonstrated the latest in Unified Communications such as Microsoft Lync which will allow organizations to experience first-hand how they can immediately reduce costs while enhancing communication, increasing efficiency and improving on business results.

The Microsoft Jordan Open Door Event also provided Microsoft’s local partners in Jordan with an opportunity to showcase their most advanced innovations and business solutions with the event being sponsored by leading companies in the Kingdom including Nokia as Platinum Sponsor, and MentaITech, United Technology Solutions, HCL, Sermon Business Solutions and Estarta as Gold Sponsors.
