ADU Enterprise Launches First Cisco Entrepreneur Institute Training Program

Published Dec 19, 2010

With an aim of supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and assist them in having their innovative ideas realised, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has established an Innovation and Entrepreneur Center that would also help promote the welfare of the wider Abu Dhabi community by establishing more knowledge based enterprises.

ADU Enterprise’s objective is to provide the means to achieve an entrepreneurial environment by providing end to end assistance for new start-ups, as well as fresh graduates and researchers. It also aims to further stimulate innovation by offering training, coaching and mentoring, and fostering the creation of knowledge based SMEs by filling the gap between academic and industrial careers.

The center is also determined to organize campaigns for wider awareness, and for the promotion of entrepreneurial talent and innovative minds with a focus on technology and knowledge based SME creation, and in turn advancing and realizing cause of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

To assure the achievement of this goal, the center is partnering with key players in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The center signed MoU with Khalifa Fund and with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to develop joint activities and programs to support the creation of innovative SMEs in the Abu Dhabi emirate.

In its effort to instill and inspire innovation, ADU Enterprise is launching its first major training program entitled ‘Starting a Business’ to be conducted under the auspices of the ADU Cisco Entrepreneur Institute. The course runs from December 18th until January 29th 2011.

ADU Enterprise became an accredited trainer and course provider of Cisco Entrepreneur Institute in August 2010, joining over 100 similar centers globally in providing training for entrepreneurs and small business development.

‘Starting a Business’ course is a practical and comprehensive seven week workshop on how to successfully start and operate a business. ADU Enterprise has tailored the material to be relevant to aspiring entrepreneurs in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. And wherever possible, local guest speakers will also contribute to the various course modules.

Successful business ownership requires choosing the right type of business, an understanding of legal requirements, accounting, management, and marketing. A business plan pulls all these components together. Most people fail in business because they make avoidable mistakes. This workshop teaches what those mistakes are and how to avoid them.

The goals of ADU Enterprise are to foster knowledge-based entrepreneurial opportunities and to develop wealth and employment for the nation through new technology based enterprises. This is achieved, through the provision of business support services for emerging technology companies; fostering and supporting the development of an entrepreneurial environment for researchers and other individuals.
