Samsung Real Dreams

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader and award winning innovator in consumer electronics, in collaboration with Nahdet El Mahrousa Egypt (NM), presented the 2010 Samsung Real Dreams awards to the participants of the Young Innovators’ Awards Program. 150 students from all over Egypt were in attendance at the awards ceremony, which took place at the Center for Civic Education in Zamalek, where the top thirty projects were showcased and presented with certificates. The top ten groups received checks from Samsung Electronics in order to implement their innovative ideas which link education with industry. Samsung also presented certificates to the Samsung Real Dreams graduates and announced the winners of the “Hope for the Future” essay contest, who won Samsung laptops, mobile phones and cameras.
“Samsung is proud to present the winners of this year’s competition the opportunity to see their projects realized beyond the classroom,” commented Duke Park, General Manager for Samsung Electronics Egypt. “It is important to help foster skills and hands on training to the young members of Egyptian society in order to promote creative and innovative thinking for future generations.”
The Samsung Real Dreams program (SRD) aims to improve the employability of public university graduates through entrepreneurship and soft skills training combined with internships and job placement services, as well as to foster the culture of research and development among them.
The long term goal and mission of Real Dreams Egypt is to foster a culture of youth entrepreneurship in Egypt, to improve prospects for employment and income generation for the thousands of young Egyptians expected to enter the job market over the coming years. The program targeted 90 young Egyptians through Nahdet El Mahrousa’s Career and Entrepreneurship Development Office at Cairo University and around 40 young Egyptians through Samsung Real Dreams Award program.
The Samsung Real Dreams 2010 program was led and implemented by Nahdet El Mahrousa and targeted students and recent graduates of public universities. Samsung Real Dreams 2010 Program focused on Samsung Real Dreams Scholarships to support employability training for students and recent graduates of Cairo University and the Samsung Real Dreams Award program, to stimulate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among technical students from the Faculties of Engineering at public universities. The training services are complemented with internships, linking the participants with practical skills and work experience. The 2010 Samsung Real Dreams program also expands the very successful Samsung Real Dreams Award program which offers cash prizes to engineering students who develop innovative prototypes to help address some of Egyptian industry’s greatest challenges.
