Symantec Positioned As A Leader In The Managed Security Service Provider Magic Quadrant

Published Jan 12, 2011

Symantec Corp. has announced that it has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the Leaders Quadrant of the 2010 Magic Quadrant for Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) North America report . Symantec Managed Security Services provides real time, enterprise wide protection from known and emerging threats, enabling customers to protect their information assets and demonstrate compliance with industry regulations.

The number and types of managed security service providers (MSSPs) are growing, and enterprises are faced with more choices of managed security services (MSSs). Enterprises must define the scope of security activities and their level of service expectations before evaluating prospective MSSPs,” notes the Magic Quadrant report, which positions vendors based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision. “Selecting an MSSP with service delivery capabilities and security expertise that are best aligned with enterprise requirements and expectations increases the chance of a successfully managed security engagement.”

By partnering with in house staff and providing complimentary expertise, powerful analytics, and global threat visibility, Symantec MSS helps customers bolster defenses and respond rapidly to new threats as they emerge,” said Johnny Karam, Regional Director MENA, Symantec. “We believe our position as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for MSSPs confirms Symantec’s vision, focus and enduring commitment to stand as a partner and trusted advisor in reducing overall security risk for our customers.”

According to the report, MSSPs in North America generated revenue of $1.8 billion in 2009, representing growth of 24 percent over 2008, and Gartner is predicting that revenue will have grown to $2.3 billion for 2010. The report further states that growth in enterprise demand for MSS is driven primarily by four factors staffing and budget constraints, evolving compliance reporting requirements, expansion of Internet connection points and growing experience with remote services for IT.

Symantec Managed Security Services puts aspects of security operations under the management of experienced specialists to offer organizations a higher level of protection for their mission critical information assets. Symantec delivers real time threat monitoring and analysis to minimize any impact on business operations and reduce overall security risk. By leveraging Symantec’s world class analytics and expertise, organizations can improve business continuity and enhance the efficiency of their security operations.
