HTC Announces Egypt Launch of HTC Desire HD and HTC HD7, First Windows Phone 7

Published Jan 16, 2011

A global designer of smart phones has announced at a press conference in Cairo, the Egyptian launch of the HTC Desire HD and the first Microsoft Windows Phone 7 device, the HTC HD7.

The Android-based HTC Desire HD embodies the HTC Sense 2.0 experience and introduces a number of key innovations including a series of free, connected services called htcsense.com that enhances people’s mobile experience on HTC phones. The HTC Desire HD brings in new features and high-tech improvements to one of HTC's most successful ranges of smartphone models.

The feature-packed HTC HD7 on the other hand comes with a 4.3 inch WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen, and is also equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash with auto focus and HD video features. As for data transfer, the device is supported with 802.11 wifi, Bluetooth and an AGPS/GPS system.

Windows Phone 7 was designed to deliver a mobile experience that has the phone working better for people, bringing together the things they care about most and helping them to get things done faster. Windows Phone 7 breaks the current smartphone convention to help people quickly and easily find and consume data, information and services from the Web and applications. For example, the customizable Start screen with Live Tiles is a personal experience, showing people their own content. The Live Tiles come to life with real-time updates from the Web such as news, appointments or the status of friends. New Live Tiles can be easily created from whatever content a user wants, such as applications, websites and music. Windows Phone 7 devices also come pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Mobile, One Note Mobile and SharePoint.

Mohamed Kais Zribi, Regional Manager of HTC Middle East and North Africa, said: "Egypt represents a highly important market for HTC, given its major growth potential and increasing mobile penetration. We believe that the launch of the HTC Desire HD and HTC HD7 in this market will add further impetus to the smartphone segment, especially considering the new features and applications that these devices offer.

The HTC Desire HD has a more engaging, intuitive, and user-friendly design, and it also leverages the powerful Android platform and the latest version of HTC Sense 2.0, which is quite popular among smartphone users."

“The HTC HD7 on the other hand has also been eagerly awaited by smartphone users across the region who can expect a totally different mobile experience thanks to Windows Phone 7. As expected, the HTC HD7 is loaded with features that will excite and engage users, who will also appreciate the high level of customization that the phone offers,” he added.

Neeraj Seth, MENA Marketing Manager, HTC Middle East & North Africa, said, “The digital revolution has transformed the mobile phone landscape in Egypt and has strengthened the need for mobile connectivity and more powerful smartphone applications for internet browsing, social networking and content management. The launch of HTC Desire HD and HTC HD7 will reinforce HTC's leadership in the smartphone segment and help sustain our growth momentum by delivering high-technology innovations that cater to the growing demand for wider-ranging functionality and a truly engaging smartphone experience. We believe that these feature-rich phones will particularly appeal to the country’s young, tech savvy population, who are a key target for us in this market.”

New HTC Sense 2.0:

The new HTC Sense experience offers a variety of enhancements that improve how people capture, create, share and access multimedia content. HTCSense.com makes it easy to set up a new HTC phone or access archived mobile content such as contacts, text messages and call history from a PC browser. People can also customize their phones with exclusive HTC content like wallpapers, HTC scenes, sounds or plug-ins.

HTC Desire HD:

HTC Desire HD showcases outstanding multimedia content with its bright 4.3” LCD display and Dolby/SRS sound and is the first to be powered by the new 1GHz Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon processor. The HTC Desire HD enables 720p HD video recording and includes an 8-megapixel camera with dual-flash.
