Salem Al Ali Informatics Award Adopts 10 Fields

Websites, creative programmers, organizations, and individual achievers begun gathering forces to participate in Salem Al Ali Informatics Award 2011, the largest informatics award in the Arab World, estimated over 100 thousand Kuwaiti Dinars, usd 375 thousand.
Both Kuwait Award and Arab World Award target 10 different fields. Applicants compete, each in their field, to win one of the awards’ three tracks being Informatics Award, Informatics Development, and Informatics Knowledge.
Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Award Manager, Dr. Khalil Abul said, “Participating fields in Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Informatics Award varies between competing on the Informatics Award in addition to the participation in the various activities the award offers. Individuals, website owners, programmers, scientific projects and research, in addition to environmental research can apply for the award.
Abul confirmed that applying for the Informatics Award continues until the end of the current month, allowing more competition and more chance for winning the award in this track.
He added, “We strengthened the competition this year, covering scientific and environmental fields, opening the door for innovators to compete in the award that aims to develop informatics capabilities among Arabs youth, unleashing their creativity, preparing them to participate in developing the informatics culture on an international level, developing the Arabic content on the internet to reflect the civilized image it deserves.
To achieve the informatics development the Arab World needs, Dr. Abul illustrated that the 10 fields available in the award this year are related to informatics development, including Individuals, Civic Society, Private Sector, Government, Education, Health, Environment, Media and Communication, Scientific Research, Knowledge and Culture.
He further elaborated that the Individuals field aims at encouraging them to use the internet and develop websites, furthering their individual capabilities. The Civic Society aims at stimulating the civic organizations to contribute their role in culturing the society, on the latest methods in ICT, in their daily lives.
The Private and Government fields attempt to stimulate both sectors in keeping up with the technical development, to fasten processes and increase citizens’ luxury standards, applying them in building societies.
Subsequently, Education field aims at encouraging e-education, enlarging its uses in building a modern education matrix, with more capabilities in keeping pace with the modern renaissance, forming a comprehensive circle with Health field, which is keen on spreading health culture, providing individuals with the latest scientific and medical information.
To achieve comprehensive status in social development, Salem Al Ali Informatics award, for the first time, offers Environment and Scientific Research fields, considering their prominence, being one of the most important sectors in everyday lives, similar to the Knowledge and Culture fields.
Media and Communications, on the other hand, aims at stimulating communication and media channels to increase their vital role in publishing and distributing accurate information, reaching out to all society.
