Trend Micro™ ScanMail™ For IBM Lotus Domino Now Available For All 64-bit Domino Platforms, Including Linux On System z

Published Feb 7, 2011

Trend Micro Incorporated, a global leader in Internet content security, has now released its security software for all 64-bit IBM® Lotus® Domino® platforms including the new IBM System z platform.

The comprehensive ScanMail Suite delivers anti-spam, anti-malware, Web threat protection and content filtering to prevent data theft and loss.

Specifically designed as a native Lotus Domino server application, ScanMail enables easy and intuitive management and is optimized for high performance scanning now with support for 64-bit IBM Lotus Domino for Linux on System z as well as Windows® and AIX.

This new addition now makes Trend Micro the only vendor to support all current 64-bit Domino platforms.
With support for the latest Lotus Domino releases across the broadest range of platforms, organizations are able to dramatically reduce costs with the operating environment that best fits in their datacenter.

The release of ScanMail v5 for Lotus Domino for Linux on IBM System z allows us to exploit the world's fastest chip technology on the IBM zEnterprise System to help our customers achieve unrivalled reliability, security and manageability for their multi-OS datacenters," said Steve Quane, chief product officer at Trend Micro. "Further, since Lotus Domino, ScanMail and IBM System z all support multiple operating environments, heterogeneity of datacenters no longer stands in the way of dramatic consolidation and cost reduction a key objective of our large enterprise customers.

With the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ infrastructure, customers get faster, more effective protection against the latest email threats, including those containing malicious URLs, now far outweighing those with malicious attachments.

With one of the largest cloud based domain reputation databases in the world, Trend Micro tracks the credibility of Web domains and IP addresses by assigning a reputation score based on factors such as a website's age, IP email sending behavior, historical location changes, and indications of suspicious activities discovered through behavior analysis. That rating is immediately accessible to ScanMail products, enabling messages with links to malicious URLs to be immediately blocked.

As a university with a relatively open environment, security is a top challenge and priority," said Kelvin Hwang, computing consultant of University of Windsor. "Trend Micro's ScanMail for Lotus Domino plays a critical role in protecting students from email borne threats- threats that have increased in sophistication and maliciousness over the years.

That's why their new web reputation capability has been a major enhancement for us, stopping malicious URLs in addition to files. This latest release reflects why we always count on Trend Micro to provide the latest technologies on the platform of our choice- now and in the future.

Trend Micro is demonstrating ScanMail, and will have experts in Lotus Domino consolidation and Lotus Domino security, at Lotusphere 2011 in Pedestals #501-504 at the 18th annual Lotusphere conference,in Orlando, FL.
