Alcatel-Lucent And Deviceanywhere Break Down Application Barriers To Bring Service Providers New Apps Faster

Alcatel-Lucent and DeviceAnywhere, the industry leader in end to end mobile application testing, announced they are working together to help developers and mobile operators bring new services to consumers and businesses more quickly. Providing developers with 24/7 remote access to the world’s largest mobile device bank for apps testing and certification, the companies are reducing development costs and eliminating fragmentation barriers to make it easier for service providers to fill their apps stores with cool new voice, data, multimedia and video services.
The integration of two key solutions Alcatel-Lucent’s Developer Platform and DeviceAnywhere’s Test Center™ significantly streamlines the process for getting new apps into the hands of end users. Rather than physically traveling to apps testing houses, developers can simply use their personal computer to test and certify their apps across thousands of commercial and pre commercial handsets in data centers worldwide.
As a result, they can more quickly and economically verify their apps will run smoothly on networks, devices and operating systems, helping expedite their introduction into apps stores.
A live demonstration of this integrated solution will be shown at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, in the Alcatel-Lucent booth at the “Applications Planet” exhibit in Hall 7.
Application submission and certification is arguably the biggest challenge for operators to overcome before they can successfully launch their own application storefronts,” said Faraz Syed, CEO and co founder, DeviceAnywhere. “By introducing proof based certification on live, networked devices, operators can empower their developer partners to manage their own certification process, yet still retain full control of the testing results.”
This automated, cloud based solution enables developers to test and certify their apps without the direct involvement of mobile operators to expedite the process of getting their apps into more operator storefronts.Because no hardware limitations exist and all phone features and capabilities are supported, anything can be tested; from mobile content applications to mobile websites, downloads and web-based applications.
In addition to extending end user reach, this hastens subscriber discovery of cool new web, mobile and video apps, accelerating return on investment for operators and developers alike.
The integration of DeviceAnywhere’s technology further strengthens Alcatel- Lucent’s Developer Platform, which is the industry’s most comprehensive solution for helping service providers open up their networks and manage their own application storefronts,” said Scott Monson, director of Alcatel-Lucent’s application services.“Service providers can now deliver testing and certification of applications at much lower costs and in a much shorter time frame than test houses can offer.
It's a winning proposition for service providers and developers who will now have more transparency and control of their submissions than ever before.”
The announcement is another important step in the realization of Alcatel-Lucent’s Application Enablement vision to combine the trusted capabilities of service providers with the speed and innovation of the Web to enable a new generation of services and provide both consumers and business users with richer mobile experiences.
