MC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, announced at the IDC CIO Summit in Dubai that it continues to deliver on its cloud computing vision and three guiding principles operational efficiency, quality of service, and business agility.
During his keynote presentation at the summit, Sanjay Mirchandani, EMC CIO & COO, Global Centers of Excellence, shared EMC’s experience of the Journey to the Cloud with the top CIOs in the Middle East. EMC recently moved into the third phase on its journey – IT as a Service which will fundamentally change how IT is built, managed and consumed by delivering fully transparent, global services via a ubiquitous delivery platform.
EMC’s Journey to The Cloud comprises three phases. From 2004-2008, EMC completed the IT Production Phase which was focused on driving operational efficiencies in the business through virtualization, server consolidation and storage optimization. During the Business Production phase from 2009-2010, EMC was focused on increasing productivity and improving the quality of service by extending the value of virtualization to its existing business-owned, mission-critical applications. Currently in the IT as a service (ITaaS) phase, EMC will accelerate business agility by offering employees a wider variety of secure, cloud-based services with consistent service levels through a self-service catalogue.
During his keynote, Mirchandani discussed the key initiatives and technologies related to each phase of the journey and said, “What began as a forcing function to improve efficiency and extend the life of aging datacenters enabled EMC to evolve from providing siloed, point-solutions to providing fully transparent, global services that drive business agility.”
Mohammed Amin, EMC Vice President and General Manager, EMC Turkey, Emerging Africa and Middle East Region said, “Having witnessed the operational cost reduction and efficiencies at EMC IT, we are very confident of our ability to help our customers through their own Journey to the Cloud. I urge CIOs to start the adoption journey today as the rewards to reap extend to faster time to market as better focus on their customers.“
Also in attendance at the CIO IDC Summit with EMC were some key Velocity Channel partners, ITS International Turnkey Systems Group a leading integrated IT solutions & software services provider in the region and Maham Al-Khaleej Co. Ltd. MATCO is a Saudi company, one of the leading Information Life Cycle Management (ILM) solution providers.
