Etisalat To Re-Number Existing TV Channels For eLife

Published Mar 13, 2011

Etisalat announced that it will re number all the TV Channels for its eLife and e-vision customers, to enable greater ease of navigation. The re-numbering exercise is based on customer feedback and analysis of popular channel surfing habits.

Etisalat, through eLife and e-vision, will re-align its existing 350 channels, as per preferred language and genre. Besides enabling effective and easy channel surfing for customers, the re- numbering exercise will also provide additional features such as option of selecting multiple favourite channel lists for customers.

The re numbering is scheduled for March 15th and will take approximately up to 24 hours for completion. During this period customers may face momentary disruption of service. The new channel numbers will automatically get upgraded in the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and customers are advised to reprogram their favourite channel lists.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Humaid Rashid Sahoo, CEO e-vision said: “Channel re-numbering is a step towards providing a personalised TV viewing experience to our customers. The newly synchronised channels are based on popular customer feedback and our analysis of channel switching habits of our customers.

This initiative will provide unmatched ease of channel surfing for our customers who can not only select favourite channels through their preferred language and genre, but also provide additional capability of saving multiple favourite lists, a feature created keeping families in mind, that have diverse channel preferences.

Our customers desire more interaction, more choice and more control in the way they watch TV, and that is precisely what we intend to offer.”Mr Sahoo added.

The new channel numbers will automatically get updated in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) that provides a sneak preview into programme highlights and timings of most channels from eLife & e-vision.

The EPG will provide information on programme schedules for the week for a period ranging from 3 days to 1 week. It will thus provide a convenient planning mechanism for customers who have busy lifestyles so that they can decide on their entertainment options during the week and don’t miss their favourite programmes.

Etisalat TV services, offered through eLife and e-vision are a leading source for regional entertainment in the UAE to offer over 350 TV channels in 21 different languages, ranging from sports to movies, from documentaries to music and kid's channels in addition to 23 high definition premium channels.

The comprehensive entertainment offerings include 15 premium packages from all the major TV providers like OSN, ART, Pehla, Firstnet, TFC, Pinoy Plus, Abu Dhabi Media, Al Jazeera and many more, in addition to the e-vision Basic package.
