Nawras Joined By Al Wisal FM And Al Watan In Support Of We Care Fundraising Event For NACA

Published Mar 20, 2011

As part of an active and varied programme to support the community, Nawras is delighted to partner with Al Wisal FM and Al Watan in supporting ‘We Care’, a first-of-its-kind event for ladies on 30 March 2011. Created and staged by a team of volunteers raising funds for the National Association of Cancer Awareness (NACA), the action packed all-day event at Al Noor Hall in Al Medinat Sultan Qaboos, is also setting out to help entrepreneurial ladies with the promotion and growth of their own small businesses.

‘We Care’ will include a fashion show, shopping, music, food, raffle prizes and an auction of abayas from Al Badawiya, designed by Manal Alkiyumi. Entry tickets will be sold on the door for RO1. ‘We Care’ will be open from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm with raffle draws taking place at 1:00pm and 10:00pm as well as an exciting fashion show and auction from 7.30pm.

‘We Care’ is the result of a brainstorming session by nine ladies from Nawras who wanted to use their skills and enthusiasm to make a difference to those who are fighting cancer, and their families. After enlisting the wholehearted backing of Nawras, the ladies started to talk to their friends and family members to request their participation and the project took off from there. Response has been overwhelming with word spreading fast and all tables quickly reserved.

“When I received a call to tell me about the ‘We Care’ event that was being planned and I learnt that the organisers would like to donate all funds raised to the National Association of Cancer Awareness, I was truly grateful,” said Yuthar Mohammed Al Rawahy, Founder and Chairperson of NACA. “It is rare for us to receive offers of help like this and I applaud these Nawras ladies for their generosity of spirit and compassion.”

For further information about the event, interested parties can contact the organisers by emailing We-care@nawras.om or calling 97141135.

Nawras, a Qtel Group company, regards an active social responsibility programme as an important way to give back to the community. The most well-known annual event undertaken is the Nawras Goodwill Journey which involves dozens of dedicated Nawras volunteers travelling to all parts of Oman over a period of two weeks during Ramadan to undertake community improvement projects as well as distribute items that are needed by various charities such as air conditioners, computers, sewing machines and vehicles.
