Kettering University’s Prof. Basem Alzahabi Delivers Lecture At ALHOSN University’s Building Design Software Seminar

Dr. Basem Alzahabi, Professor and Associate Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Kettering University, USA, yesterday (Monday, March 28, 2011) delivered a lecture entitled ‘The Importance of Simulation for Engineers’ during a seminar on ‘The New Generation of Building Design Softwares’ hosted by ALHOSN University’s Center for Research and Consultancy in cooperation with Techiesoft FZ LLC. The seminar was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Prof. Basem Alzahabi’s presentation was among the highlights of the day-long seminar which also discussed the features and capabilities of advanced structural design software from Techiesoft, one of the most integrated IT, CAD/Engineering and Project Management solutions providers in the Middle East. Kettering University is fielding a delegation to ALHOSN University in line with an International Articulation Agreement signed by the universities late last year to promote and expand international understanding, development and cooperation between the two institutions.

“Prof. Alzahabi’s presentation gave us valuable insights into the role of simulation in enhancing engineering planning and outputs. Through our partnership with Kettering University, we seek opportunities such as these to ameliorate the university’s expertise in engineering, math, science and business and hence expand the knowledge base and skills of our students and faculty. We look forward to more visits from other professors and researchers from Kettering University as well from our other international partners,” said Dr. Hany El Naggar, Vice President for Engineering in the Center for Research and Consultancy, ALHOSN University.

The ALHOSN-hosted seminar was open to the general public. Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University, delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Ajaya Kumar, Techiesoft CEO, also delivered a presentation on ‘Official Software Deployment.’ Techiesoft pledged to provide USD 1 million worth of free software to ALHOSN University for the advancement of the institution’s building design initiatives.

Operating under the philosophy of ‘global knowledge with local vision,’ ALHOSN University offers offers11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to students of all nationalities. Its City Campus includes the Men’s Campus, the Women’s Campus, a Library Building, Lectures Building, Studio Building, and the Engineering Labs Building. The university is named after the historic ALHOSN Palace in Abu Dhabi.
