HTC Reiterates Strong Commitment To Mena Region With Introduction Of Cutting-Edge Smartphone Techonology

Published Mar 31, 2011

HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile innovation and design, reiterated its strong commitment to the MENA region with the strategic launch of truly unique novel products, never-before-seen in the market. The much-anticipated launch featured five new smartphones and one tablet including the industry’s first phones built entirely around social networking, three new versions of HTC’s most popular and advanced smartphones –as well as HTC’s first ever tablet, the HTC FlyerTM. The new models will be available to the public in Q2.

According to recent studies, a significant number of users access the internet using their mobile devices with more than 71% ranking email as their biggest mobile internet activity*. Meanwhile, the estimated smartphone sales penetration in the Middle East is set to hit 28.8% by 2015**. All this forecasts that social networking and smartphones will play an increasing role in youth marketing and media trends. As they have become part of their lifestyle and culture, standard phones cannot fully cater to the online and social networking demands of the youth. HTC estimates that more of the region’s youth becoming active on social networking platforms and more companies targeting the youth through this means, due to its great viral effect.

“Clearly, smartphones have transformed our lives but these new models will take the phenomenon one step further, bringing you a different, more personal and dynamic mobile experience. We are progressing down a path as an industry when people will no longer be in a single device paradigm, but will use a variety of wireless devices ideal for all their different needs and HTC will be supplying the best options available for all. Bringing intelligence and innovation to the industry, we are narrowing the gap between the segment and functional sophistication of the smartphone category. Our HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa models will feature a dedicated Facebook button for one touch access to key functions on the world’s leading social network. Such converged functionalities are poised to revolutionize and set a unique precedent for future dynamic smartphone features”, said Florian Seiche, President of HTC EMEA.

HTC also developed the HTC Sense experience to bring cutting-edge innovation to its customers in simple and natural ways that just make sense - this is what HTC Desire S, HTC Wildfire S and HTC Incredible S represent best. These new phones offer an exhilarating mix of style, innovation and features that extend people’s mobile experience in ways that feel personal and completely original. HTC’s commitment to up-to-date practical innovations won the company the best device manufacturer of the year award by the GSM Association at the 2011 Global Mobile Award Ceremony in Barcelona.

“Our ever growing presence in the region, marks a new era of superior premium mobile innovations and applications that is certain to take the region by storm. HTC’s new and enhanced extensive product portfolio has something for everyone targeting all segments of the market with unique individualized features and settings. According to the population reference bureau, one third of the population currently consist of youth and this trend will continue into 2025 giving HTC an ideal market for their trendy cutting-edge products,” said Mohamed Kais Zribi, Regional Manager, HTC Middle East and North Africa.
According to Deloitte’s recent report, today consumers begin using a wider variety of devices to access the internet, and tablet sales will definitely outnumber the sales of personal computers, therefore HTC’s first tablet, HTC Flyer™, is a natural response to the market demands. The tablet blends HTC’s trademark design language with an all-new HTC Sense user experience that has been reimagined for the tablets. Using an intuitive and innovative approach to tablets, HTC Flyer combines natural touch and pen interaction.
HTC in the region is supported by an extensive channel network featuring trusted telecom partners, well-placed retailers, successful tie-ups with other distributors and flourishing franchises.
