Microsoft User Groups Announce Winner Of ‘Most Active Community Member’ Competition In Jordan

Members of the User Groups for Microsoft Technologies announced that Mr. Suliman Battat, founder of the Azure User Group, is the winner of the first ‘Most Active Community Member’ Competition in Jordan, for sharing his knowledge in IT by presenting over 12 technical sessions at 11 universities across Jordan free of charge. Microsoft Jordan is the main sponsor of the competition.
The Competition Committee selected one winner based upon the highest number of points collected for sharing their knowledge on Microsoft products and technologies through lectures, presentations, training sessions, online articles, podcasts or videos. The winner Mr. Battat received a fully paid trip, including the cost of airfare, hotel accommodation and conference admission fees, to attend Microsoft's premier technical conference, Tech-Ed Middle East 2011 that took place on March 8-10, 2011 in Dubai, UAE.
Battat said, “The community in Jordan is very active and helpful. I started as a Microsoft Student Partner, attended community sessions, and later graduated and became a community and Microsoft BizSpark member. Giving back to the community and doing these sessions has helped me in meeting new people, gaining new opportunities, as well as increased my own knowledge. Winning the award and attending TechEd Dubai is a great honor for me, and I’m very grateful to the community and Microsoft for it.”
Muhammad Arrabi, Developer and Platform Evangelism Lead, Microsoft Jordan, stated, “Microsoft is a proud member of the Jordanian ICT community, and we make every effort to encourage an active and healthy IT ecosystem that ultimately contributes to the growth of Jordan’s IT sector. We have launched several great programs that support the community such as Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals, Usergroups, and technical events. We also participate in other Jordanian technical events like AmmanTT, JordanTech, and many others.”
To be eligible to enter the skill-based competition, participants shared their knowledge of Microsoft products and technologies with the broader community by providing free lectures, presentations or training sessions to professionals, universities or schools; by publishing technical online articles, podcasts or videos; or by submitting open source projects at http://CodePlex.com.
Alaa Ajweh, Technical Consultant at Convergence, UTS and competition organizer, stated, “This competition definitely distinguished Members among their peers as an Active Community Member and a Valuable Contributor. The Most Active Community Member Competition is going to shape Jordan's technical communities for good.”
The Microsoft Community lectures take place at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) - Loay Shammout Hall, every Wednesday from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
