Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia arc Smartphone In Middle East

Published Apr 7, 2011

Sony Ericsson announced the Middle East launch of the new Xperia arc, the first of a new generation of Android 2.3 smartphones that incorporates Sony technology and offers a multimedia experience.

Launched internationally earlier this year, the super light Xperia arc is 8.7mm at its thinnest part and weighs 117 grams. Sporting a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU and a 4.2-inch multi-touch screen (Reality Display), the sleek smartphone is ergonomically designed to fit into the user's hand. Crafted with a type of mineral glass that is used for making watch crystals, the smartphone is scratch and shatter-resistant.

Ruediger Odenbach, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Middle East, said, "We are beginning this year on a confident note by introducing our most exciting Xperia product yet. Xperia arc combines Sony technology with a new design to surprise consumers. In addition, the product gets its additional appeal as it blends Sony's new technology on the latest Android platform."

The Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine delivers visual brilliance and a crystal clear image, ensuring the ultimate multimedia entertainment and viewing experience.

Furthermore, Sony's award-winning Exmor R for mobile sensor with the f/2.4 lens enables the capture of high-quality, bright pictures and HD videos even in low light. All pictures and videos can be shared in HD on any TV via the built in HDMI-connector. Going beyond the scope of a mobile phone camera, the Xperia arc camera offers a series of capabilities that include auto focus, face detection, LED flash, image stabilizer, geo tagging, and noise suppression.

As far as connectivity goes, the smartphone has a 3.5 mm audio jack, in addition to HDMI, USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. The device also supports A-GPS and DLNA as well as memory card (Micro USD) with capacity up to 32 GB.

Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which allows the user to access to more than 150,000 free applications and get the best time with the gaming-power rich multimedia, the Xperia arc also offers access to Google Mobile Services and enables users to stay connected with friends through messaging and social networking integration.

Sony Ericsson's Xperia smartphones add best in class entertainment on top of smartphone fundamentals such as apps, maps, email and fast Internet to create the most entertaining smartphone experience.
