Boosting users’ online, digital and PC experience, Intel Corporation announced the availability of the highly anticipated and game-changing 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor family in the United Arab Emirates.
Representing the biggest advance in computing performance and capabilities, consumers are set to gain a host of benefits including the ability to create content 42% faster and game with up to 50% more speed.
Commenting on the products arrival in the UAE, Nassir Nauthoa, Intel’s General Manager for the GCC, stated, “The 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processors deliver a dramatically improved PC experience; better power management, greater efficiency, increased battery life and enhanced graphics via Intel’s ‘visibly smart’ technology. When compared to Intel’s first microprocessor, the 4004, introduced in 1971, a 32nm CPU today runs 4000 times faster and each transistor consumers uses about 4000 less energy.”
With forecasts of PC shipments to the UAE expected to exceed 2.5 million units in 2011 and further increase by 15% in 2012, Intel has been working closely with multinational and local PC manufacturers to ensure consumers are able to avail the benefits of the latest technology as quickly as possible.
Launched at an exclusive showcase at the Burj Khalifa to selected multinational partners and vendors, Intel focused on demonstrating its ‘visibly smart’ technology across several systems based on its all new 2011 family of processors.
Nauthoa added, “We are committed to equipping the region with best and latest technologies and the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processors are unrivalled. In addition, the built-in visual capabilities and improved adaptive performance will revolutionize the PC experience in a way that is obvious for every user to see and appreciate”.
The Intel® Core™ i3, i5 and i7 processors include the enhanced Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, a feature that automatically reallocates processor core and processor graphics resources to accelerate performance, giving users an immediate performance boost when and where it’s needed.
The new processors combine several surprising new features, services and partnerships that join to deliver an entirely new visual experience with processor graphics built in. New features include Intel® Quick Sync Video, and a new version of the company’s award-winning Intel® Wireless Display (WiDi), which now adds 1080p HD and content protection for those wishing to beam premium HD content from their laptop screen to their TV.
“Users are changing the way they view content. The Internet has become a vastly popular medium for not only downloading, sharing and viewing video content but also projecting it to home theatre systems. Users therefore need PC’s that can process high volumes of data whilst also allowing them to enjoy top quality visuals,” stated Nauthoa, “Our 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processors includes features and capabilities that provide consumers access to movies on their PCs in full high-definition that were not available before.”
Another unique element of the visual experience built into the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor family is Intel® Quick Sync Video. This built-in hardware acceleration takes the wait out of editing and sharing videos with astonishing performance that completes in minutes what used to take hours. Now faster than ever, consumers can edit, convert and share videos with friends and family. Intel estimated that a 4-minute HD video that used to take 4 minutes to convert to play on an iPod* would now take just 16 secondsii.
“If you were to take the performance boost from the 2nd Generation Intel Core processor over previous generation Intel Core processor and apply it to a Boeing 767 airplance, the jet could travel two times faster. This means a flight that usually lasts 2 hours would take only 60 minutes. When you look at the capabilities in this content, it really brings home just how important the latest technological advances are,” concluded Nauthoa.
Intel announced more than 20 processors, wireless adapters and chipsets, including new Intel® Core™ i7, i5 and i3 processors, Intel® 6 Series Chipsets, and Intel® Centrino® WiFi and WiMAX adapters at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011. Partnering with all major OEMs worldwide, Intel’s “visibly smart” microarchitecture is available on more than 500 laptop and desktop PC platforms that will combine visual and 3-D graphics technology.
The dual-core and quad-core based systems (four processors inside one chip).
