Global Industry Players Sponsor QITCOM Conference & Exhibition

GLOBAL ICT heavyweights have given their support to the first annual QITCOM Conference & Exhibition to be held May 24-26, 2011 at the Doha International Exhibition Center.

Organized by IFP Qatar in partnership with ictQATAR, QITCOM Conference and Exhibition will be a gateway for international and regional ICT companies and organization to see what Qatar has to offer in terms of partnerships and research and development centers.

QITCOM 2011 announced leading global telecoms solutions provider Huawei as the exclusive Pearl Sponsor for the event. The company’s products have been deployed in over 100 countries and have served 45 of the world's top 50 telecom operators, as well as one third of the world's population. The company operates 17 research and development centers around the world including in the United States, Sweden, Russia and India

Microsoft, one of the world’s top companies has been confirmed as Platinum sponsors of QITCOM 2011, bringing with them their global reach and influence as well as their drive for innovation.

Joining them as Diamond sponsors are some of the best known names in the ICT industry including Technology and consulting giant IBM; business management software provider SAP and business hardware and software company Oracle.

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development the private, chartered, nonprofit organization, founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al Thani, Emir of Qatar is also supporting QITCOM 2011 as the Diamond Sponsor.

Also joining QITCOM 2011 as sponsors are Qatar Computer Services(QCS), which has supplied IT products and services within Qatar since 1978; EMC² which provides storage, protection and optimization solutions, and Qatar Datamation Systems (QDS), which has been providing accounting systems, hardware and software, to businesses and organizations in the country for more than 30 years.

Qatar’s leading and most innovative financial institution, Qatar National Bank has been confirmed as the official bank of QITCOM 2011.

Further, QITCOM 2011 has also secured some of the ICT’s biggest named as strategic partners, their input to the conference and exhibition will be invaluable.

Heading the partners is CISCO, the worldwide leader in networking and communications technology who has come on board as Digital Media Partner. The Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Qatar’s home for technology-based companies from around the world, and an incubator of start-up technology enterprises, has been appointed Innovation Technology Partner. Furthermore, the Qatar National Research Fund, which supports the country’s research community, has been chosen as the official Research Partner.

Also, MADA (Qatar Assistive Technology Center), a non-profit organization that strives to empower and enable people with disabilities through ICT, has been appointed Strategic Access Partner for QITCOM 2011. One of the focuses of the conference is on ‘’assistive technologies’’ and MADA’s support is integral to this debate.

“We have already had a tremendous amount of interest in QITCOM 2011 and this is also reflected in the support extended by these high profile sponsors and with ongoing interest from others,” said George Ayache from IFP Qatar. “This shows the strength and potential of the ICT industry in Qatar with investment in major ICT projects set to double over the next five years as part of the challenge to create a vibrant and diverse knowledge based economy by 2030.”

With this strong growth potential in the sector as a backdrop, QITCOM 2011 will have the triple themes of Innovate, Connect and Transform. It will showcase Qatar’s growing stature in the ICT industry and underscore the myriad of opportunities in the country over the next decade.

The conference and exhibition will run concurrently and already QITCOM has attracted top flight speakers including Former Chief Evangelist of Apple, Co-Founder of Alltop.com and renowned motivational speaker Guy Kawasaki; Phil Jenkins, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the United States Access Board; Mohamad Mourad, Regional Manager Gulf, Google and Gabriella Gauthey, Senior VP Public Affairs, Alcatel- Lucent.
