Rostelecom-SOUTH Deploys Alcatel-Lucent's IMS Solution To Deliver Rich Broadband Services

Published Apr 19, 2011

Alcatel-Lucent announced that Macroregional Branch “South”, OJSC Rostelecom (Rostelecom-SOUTH), Rostelecom’s organization department operating in Russia’s Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts, has deployed its End-to-End IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to introduce advanced voice, data, video and multimedia services to subscribers and ensure a quality experience. By converging media over a common IP platform, the solution provides a seamless network by which the operator can deliver rich broadband services to consumers and enterprises anywhere, anytime and over any device.

Rostelecom-SOUTH leveraged Alcatel-Lucent’s IMS solution to migrate its existing fixed network to an IP-based architecture that provides VoIP and other advanced media services, while also simplifying operations and lowering costs. As a result, the operator’s consumers and business users can enjoy a richer experience and the ability to personalize services for a more user-centric communications experience.

“We enjoy a strong relationship with Alcatel-Lucent that is based on many years of collaboration,” said Ruslan Tanashev, Rostelecom-SOUTH Commercial Director. “We expect the new IMS platform to provide us with greater flexibility, efficiency and speed in bringing to market exciting new and advanced services for our subscribers.”

“By deploying our IMS solution, Rostelecom-SOUTH gets a future-proof, all-IP network technology that will ensure it can deliver the advanced broadband services consumers and business users demand today and will be seeking tomorrow,” saidAdolfo Hernandez, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “The deployment of Alcatel-Lucent's solution ensures a superior customer experience by coupling network intelligence with web application innovation while driving profits by optimizing costs and service delivery.”

Alcatel-Lucent is a global leader in providing IMS solutions to service providers, with more than 70 deployments and trials worldwide. It is also ranked #1 in IMS VoIP subscriber market share.
