Etisalat Leads The Middle East’s LTE Revolution, Partners And Participates In LTE MENA 2011

Published Apr 20, 2011

As the Strategic Operator Partner, Etisalat participated in LTE MENA 2011 that took place in Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai on 18 and 19 April. The region’s first and only conference for the MENA region is focusing specifically on LTE, which is considered the next big wave in fourth generation (4G) wireless technology.

Speaking at this important assembly of the region’s top minds, Etisalat’s CT&IO, Marwan Zawaydeh elaborated on the current mobile broadband landscape and shared Etisalat’s visions and strategies that will assist in laying out the future roadmap of LTE roll-out for the entire region.

“As the broadband revolution accelerates the world over and in the UAE, we are witnessing an ever-increasing demand from customers for greater connectivity and faster speeds, anytime, anywhere. Etisalat has already embarked upon the process of deploying LTE, the most advanced mobile broadband technology, which will add significant value to customers’ lifestyles, enabling them to achieve much more than what is possible today,” he said.

Etisalat’s Rayyan Al Hashimi, Director/Regulatory Operations, addressed the audience on the second day of the forum at the panel discussion and spoke about the future of mobile broadband, while Mr Yousef Al Askar, Senior Director/Mobile Core Services for Etisalat discussed the LTE core network.

Etisalat recently commenced the region’s first and widest LTE network roll out, bringing the UAE in league with the world’s topmost digitized nations. Etisalat’s LTE services, soon to be launched in the UAE, will provide customers with universal connectivity at lightening downlink speeds of up to 150Mbps for any service that is available online, such as a variety of high definition (HD) video programs via multiple terminal devices, interactive gaming, Internet TV or high-bandwidth content and applications that can only be realized on such a high-capacity network.

As Etisalat rolls out its LTE footprint to reach the entire nation by end of 2011, attendees to the two-day LTE MENA 2011 event were the first in the region to experience live LTE-based services at the Etisalat stand.

At the event, carefully selected Regulators, Operators, Manufacturers and the Independent voices of the industry are coming together to discuss and debate LTE at the highest level. These thought leaders are sharing their business cases, strategies and visions for LTE deployment. In addition to the conference there is also an exhibition, featuring the latest products and services on the market.
