As one of the golden sponsors of the event, Samsung hosted a master class to showcase how the Bada platform enables the development of feature rich and advanced mobile applications. The two-day conference and developer master class is taking place at the One and Only Royal Mirage Hotel in Dubai.
Bada is Samsung's proprietary platform and has been deployed in many of the company's successful handset models (including Wave, Wave II, Wave 525, Wave 533, Wave 575, and Wave 723). Samsung is committed to delivering choice for smartphone users and ultimately democratizing the smartphone market.
Bada is also considered to be one of the most developer-friendly environments available, particularly in the area of applications using Web services. Bada's ground-breaking User Interface (UI) can be transferred into a sophisticated and attractive UI design for developers.
It also offers an easy-to-integrate platform for mobile operators who in turn, can provide unique and differentiated services to their customers.
"Events such as Planet of the Apps Arabia provide us with the opportunity to outreach to talented developers from across the region," said Mr. Ashraf Fawakherji, General Manager of Telecommunications Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics.
"During the next few days, we will be conducting a Samsung master class on our Bada platform and will showcase our product portfolio. We hope to continue our outreach to mobile applications developers with the aim of bringing locally relevant content to consumers and operators in the Gulf region," he added.
After its official launch last year, Bada has continuously evolved to elevate the user experience and allow developers to create feature-rich applications. The platform includes exciting features such as multipoint-touch, 3D graphics and application downloads and installation. With high end devices such as Wave II and Wave, Bada fully utilizes the power of hardware for the ultimate application experience. Even with mid-range models, it provides powerful features for better application experiences. Through such advancements, the upgraded platform is able to perform at the level of other smartphone platforms.
Moreover, Samsung Apps has grown at a rapid pace since launch; reaching 10 million downloads in its first three months, which skyrocketed to 100 million downloads in March, just ten months after the store opened. Over 13,000 applications are now available from Samsung apps- a six-fold increase since the store's first day. With this rapid growth, Samsung are aiming to increase app development in the region by offering more locally relevant content for Arabic users.
As Bada is the one of major smartphone platforms of Samsung, the company is expected to roll out additional Bada-based smartphones and continue to support Bada developers in making and marketing high-quality applications.
