Published Aug 10, 2009
Dubai eGovernment concluded the online activities of the Modhesh website which operated throughout the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2009, during a ceremony held on 6th August 2009 at Modhesh Fun City.

The event was attended by administrative staff, website supervisors, Dubai eGovernment representatives, and the winners of this year’s “Modhesh Friends’ Forum” competitions.

Prizes were handed out for various online contests such as “Colour and Win,” “My Trip,” “Me and My family,” and “Ibdaa,” as well as other activities hosted by the Modhesh website.

The winners of “Me and My Family” included Noora Ali Khalfan Al Mutawa, Hamda Abdullah Ali Baniyas and Fatima Abdullah Ali Baniyas, while the “Ibdaa” winners were Nouf Ali Al Mutawa, Maha Mohammed Hasan, Amal Abdullah Al Hammadi and Ibtisam Ali Al Mutawa.

Khalifa Qais Al Saidi, Amal Saif Bin Gleitah, Ahmed Abdullah Al Dashti, Rawda Ahmed Al Beloshi, Ahmed Nour Mohamed, Badr Addin Nour Mohammed, Sultan Hasan Matar, Tina Marwan Haddad and Reem Ali Al Linjawi emerged victorious in the “Colour and Win" competition.

Finally, Afraa Omar, Mariam Ahmed Al Hashimi, Aziza Mohammed Bani Hammad, Fatima Mohammed Baniyas, and Sharifah Ali Khalfan, were declared the winners of “My Trip".

The awards ceremony featured exciting games and activities for children and the special appearance of DSS mascot Modhesh.

Prizes such as digital cameras, and Modhesh and Dubai eGovernment souvenirs were also presented, while gifts of appreciation were presented to the website supervisors.

The Modhesh website is one of the most popular attractions for children during the yearly DSS event, providing both education and entertainment to its young visitors.

The various competitions made available on the “Modhesh Friends’ Forum” were designed to encourage participants to express themselves freely and creatively.

The website received around 22,000 posts from more than 1,800 registered members, with the number of posted topics exceeding 1,748.

The forum is part of a larger initiative and an integrated vision adopted by Dubai eGovernment to promote greater public awareness on digital technologies and raise the level of interest in modern IT solutions among youth by developing their skills in various applications.

This is considered an important step towards creating a digital society where citizens are actively engaged in electronic services.
