Impulse Escape-UAE won first place in the first-ever BenQ Counter-Strike Tournament hosted by BenQ Middle East and Que Club Network Games. Held on the 20th and 21st of May 2011, a total of AED20,000 worth of prizes were awarded to the top three groups (AED3,000 for Third Place won by Team Karnal-Malaysia; AED5,000 for Second Place won by Q DominiuM-UAE; and AED10,000 for the champion team Impulse Escape-UAE).
A total of 16 teams were initially entered on Day One, with the top eight teams making it to the quarterfinal round which lasted until around 12 midnight. On Day Two, the top two teams played in the finals which went on until 2 am.
In the lead up to the main event, gaming enthusiasts from around the Middle East warmed up against Counter-Strike champions, Emil “HeatoN” Christensen and Abdisamad “SpawN” Mohamed, the Swedish duo who visited Dubai for the first time and assisted in the design and development of the world’s most advanced gaming monitor – the BenQ’s 120Hz XL2410T – which was used during the tournament.
Manish Bakshi, General Manager of BenQ for the Middle East and Africa, said “We are extremely pleased to have hosted the first-ever Counterstrike tournament in Dubai, and we are happy for the warm reception that gaming enthusiasts from the region gave to gaming legends HeatoN and SpawN.
“This event showed that the gaming market is rapidly expanding and that people can enjoy and have fun with the latest BenQ gaming gear. The overwhelming response to this first tournament has inspired us to collaborate again with Que Club Network Games for future gaming tournaments,” Bakshi concluded.
BenQ’s XL2410T is priced at AED1,799.00 and is available at all major retail outlets across the Middle East. For further information on BenQ’s latest products, please visit www.BenQ.ae or 800BenQ.
