Dubai.ae Wins Best eGovernment Portal Award

Dubai eGovernment has won the Middle East eGovernment and eServices Excellence Award under the category of the Best eGovernment Portal, adding a new milestone to its record of achievements.
The winners were honoured in a ceremony organized by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute at Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, marking the conclusion of the 17th GCC eGovernment and eServices Conference, Dubai.
The ceremony was attended by key decision-makers, eGovernment and IT project managers, media and award winners. The award was received by Sumaia Hammad, Director of Communication and Business Development at Dubai eGovernment, on behalf of His Excellency, Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director- General of Dubai eGovernment.
Commenting on the award, Bin Humaidan said: “I would like to congratulate the working team of the official portal of Dubai Government, www.dubai.ae, on winning this award, which demonstrates our ongoing efforts in creating a customer-focused portal with easy access to over 2000 eServices provided by government departments in the emirate.”
He added: “Dubai eGovernment is always exploring ways to optimize the user experience of the official portal of Dubai Government. Towards this goal, the portal was re-structured using a unique life events approach, so that individuals, businesses and visitors can obtain services and information from government departments based on their life needs, thereby bringing us closer to becoming a connected government.”
On receiving the award, Sumaia Hammad said: “It is an honour to receive this award on behalf of Dubai eGovernment. The dedication shown by our teams over the past few years has led them to be known for their excellence, not only in Dubai but in all GCC countries and the Arab world as well.” She pointed out that “the success of the life events concept is thanks to the cooperation and coordination with government departments for ensuring fresh and dynamic content.”
Ali Al Kamali, Chairman of the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute said: “Strong trends have recently emerged to enhance service delivery which is why the award has focused on the achievements of eGovernment and on creating excellent standards for the region especially in services provided to citizens, residents and the business sector.” Congratulating all winners, he noted that the nominees and winners were evaluated through a rigorous evaluation process with a panel comprising of international and regional industry experts and leaders to ensure greater development of eGovernment and eServices projects in the region.
Dubai.ae provides eServices and information packaged around life events targeted at citizens, residents, businesses and visitors. Some of these life events include: Starting a business in Dubai, Going to school in Dubai, Paying bills and fines in Dubai, Dealing with banks in Dubai, Contacting Dubai Government officials, Planning to visit Dubai etc.
There are also 48 dedicated topics, most used services and How-Tos to ensure a comprehensive wealth of service and information for all user segments to ease their life in Dubai. According to Dubai.ae statistics, the majority of users (72%) are from the UAE, demonstrating the strong appeal of the website for local users, while the remaining percentage are visitors from the US, UK, GCC, Indian sub-continent and other countries.
